A cosy cottage in a beautiful location, very peaceful and only a mile or so to the sea.

In easy reach of all of the gorgeous places in N. Wales and an ideal place to stay for 2 adults and 2 children. Thank you for a lovely week.

The property is very peaceful and is situated in a lovely location.

Set away from the main road and town but still being close. The property owner is very welcoming and showed us around the accommodation. The property is very clean and has everything you need. The only suggestion we can think of is to upgrade the sofas in the lounge to some leather sofas for comfort and cleanliness.

Overall, above expectations.

Owner always ready to help if needed. Only drawback was the very narrow lane about 3/4 miles long, for accessing the property - there were many potholes. Of course, we know that is outside the owner's control.

The cottage was very comfortable, very clean and in a quiet place.

Lovely cottage looking out on daffodils and baby lambs in the field a few feet away.

The accommodation was comfortable and clean with everything you could need and more. The owner was very helpful showing is around the cottage on arrival and pointing out local walks and free parking places in town. A very good location to visit the local area but far enough away to be chilled out and quiet in the evenings. We will be back.

I stayed at Gwern Tyno this November, and it made a very positive impression.

It sits just a mile or two from the center of Colwyn Bay, but it feels like another world entirely. It is a proper rural idyll that feels tucked away from everything despite being so close to amenities. The cottage itself is incredibly well-maintained. You often worry about rental kitchens being sparse, but the level of equipment here was high, and everything felt well-maintained. The host, Janet, deserves a mention too, as she was very friendly and accommodating for the various requests I had during the stay. Getting there involves the single-track Nant y Glyn road, which is an experience in itself. I personally enjoyed the grey matter stimulation of finding canny ways to pass oncoming vehicles. It adds to the sense of being in a remote place. Overall, this is a solid choice if you want that deep countryside feel without actually being far from town.

Lovely place to stay not far out of town but felt as though you were in deep countryside.

We had a lovely stay at Gwern Tyno, property was as described.

It was very clean and well equipped. It got a bit chilly so we put heater on and soon warmed up. There are great views across fields and can see the sea in the distance. Property is situated quite a way along a lane and about 20 minutes walk to Colwyn Bay. It was very peaceful and the owner welcoming.

This is a lovely little cottage which is very clean and very well equipped.

Lounge/diner was very comfortable, as were the beds and there was everything a family could need in the galley style kitchen (no dishwasher but that was not missed). Jean the owner was always available if needed and was always very friendly. The only thing lacking was the provision of wi fi but in many ways this was a welcome break, and we we able to catch up on emails via our phones. The cottage is in the middle of the countryside and is very very quiet but is only 10-15 minutes from Colwyn Bay, Rhos-on-Sea & Conwy. We took our young grandchildren and they loved it. I would have no hesitation in booking this cottage again

This is one of the best Sykes properties we have stayed at.

We could not fault this property. The cottage was extremely clean and immaculate. The views from the cottage are fantastic. The owner is very friendly and helpful and lives only next door so handy if you have any problems, but we had no issues during our stay. A fantastic base for exploring North Wales.

Gwern Tyno is an ideal location for those who enjoy 'the sound of silence'.

We could not believe how peaceful and tranquil the location is. It was an ideal base for a walking holiday - we managed to complete the North Wales Coastal Path during our stay. Our only regret is we we so busy with our walking that we didn't have as much time to enjoy the stunning views at the property as we would have liked.

Very nice cottage in beautiful and peaceful surroundings, it was so nice not to have Wi-Fi for the week and stay off our phones and talk and read.

Janet was a great host who leaves you to it unless you want something. The cottage has all the equipment you could possibly want for a week away and is very comfortable. Will definitely return for another visit.

Firstly, Mrs Davies the owner, is a lovely welcoming lady.

The cottage is in a beautiful location situated mid hillside with ample parking.There is a bench on the grassed area in front of the cottage on which we were able to sit, relax and enjoy the scenery and listen to the birds singing. The cottage sits adjacent to the main house. There interior of the cottage is first class with a sitting / dining room and a tv. The bedrooms are nicely appointed and the beds, mine was a double and very comfortable. I had a good sleep every night. The other bedroom is a twin with standard singles in which my daughter slept, she also informed me she had slept well. The bathroom was ideal as you’d expect, with a bath and a shower that was very easy to use (Unlike some showers I’ve tried to use) above it. The kitchen was very well equipped with everything you’d need to prepare and cook meals. We didn’t avail ourselves of cooking as we had our main meal out each day but, had our breakfast and supper, toast and or bacon butties etc. I’ve never used an electric hob before so I was pleasantly surprised how quickly it heated up. There is also a new fridge/freezer. Excellent. We both had a wonderful week in Beautiful North Wales thanks in part to our excellent cottage in which we looked forward to returning to after a day out touring and visiting places of interest. “ Diolch yn fawr Iain “ Mrs Davies and North Wales.

Another lovely stay at this beautiful and well appointed property.

A stunning and peaceful location close to the coast and all amenities with a friendly and welcoming host. Superb cleanliness and maintenance, this time we were lucky enough to see the gardens in Spring and some little lambs in the field by the cottage. Gwern Tyno is the best cottage we've stayed at by far and perfect for a family with young children. We look forward to booking again and thank Janet for her hard work to make our stay enjoyable.

The road from the village up to the cottage is a single track with several other dwellings on the way with no passing places and at several places the road edge is crumbling and the edge marker posts leaning towards a steep drop into fields

Lovely cottage in a beautiful and very peaceful location.

The kitchen was well equipped with all the essentials and the beds were comfortable. Great to have ample parking space and a nice outdoor area to sit and appreciate the stunning scenery. The location is fantastic - it felt like we were in the middle of nowhere but were actually only a short drive from the town and coast. Janet was very welcoming and great to have a host who really cares that her guests have a good experience. We would highly recommend and hope to return.

I only have positive comments to make about our stay at GwernTyno.

The cottage is just as described, clean, and comfortable in a delightful quiet and peaceful setting whilst being convenient for visiting the surrounding area. The host is lovely. The setting was perfect especially as we had excellent weather. We loved being visited by the sheep in the field next door as well as Madame, the cat. One day we hope to return.

We had a lovely week her, Janet was very friendly and rescued us upon arrival with umbrellas as it was pouring down.

The cottage has everything needed to enjoy a comfortable stay. I’m going to miss my morning cuppa on the bench watching the sheep and views! We will be back again.

Clean, well equipped and very comfortable. Janet on hand at anytime. If you want a stay for peace and tranquility then this a lovely spot to be.

All the essentials plus other non essentials were provided which hasn’t always been the case in other properties (not Sykes).

First impression didn’t disappoint and was maintained throughout our stay. Location for quietness was excellent, a pity the weather wasn’t better so that we could enjoy the dark skies. Don’t be put off by the single track access (unless you own an extra large SUV). Would book again for this property.

This is the most beautiful property, everything you need for a comfortable stay we will definitely return.

The icing on the cake has to be Janet your wonderful host. We were amazed when we realised we were low on oil, my husband decided to walk to the nearest garage which would have been difficult considering th hills. He saw Janet on the way and this wonderful woman drove him there and back to the garage.

Gwern Tyno is ideally situated in a quiet and peaceful location with stunning views of the countryside and the sea in the distance.

The cottage is in an ideal position for exploring North Wales. We had a lovely welcome from Janet (the property owner) and it was nice to have that personal touch on arrival. The cottage has a well equipped kitchen with everything required for a self catering holiday. I would not hesitate to stay here again if visiting the area.

This is the 3rd time we have stayed at Gwern Tyno.

We originally chose Gwern Tyno because we were looking for somewhere single-storey, child-friendly and easy to get to. It met those needs well, but we also really love the location. It is really peaceful and feels like you are in the middle of nowhere yet it's only a 10 minute drive to the town centre and the A55 dual-carriageway. Janet is a great host - interested and very friendly and helpful but never intrusive. One small improvement we would suggest - a larger clothes airing rack would be helpful. Whilst there is a perfectly adequate washing machine it is hard to get the clothes dry.

I was needing a retreat, away from the hustle and bustle of life and Gwern Tyno was the ideal place.

It is in such a beautiful location, so much so that I ended up taking almost 300 photos. Considering how close it is to the town and seaside, if you did want to venture out, the cottage has everything you need to just stay put and enjoy being surrounded by the sights and sounds of nature. Janet was close enough if needed, but not intrusive. I felt I arrived as a stranger and left as a friend. I would certainly recommend and consider a future stay at this lovely cottage.

We enjoyed our stay at Gwern Tyno.

The cottage is nice and confortable. The children enjoyed playing in the garden. The views from the cottage are so beautiful, you could stay in the living room drinking tea and watching the mountains!! Janet is very nice and thoughtful. There is many things to do around: The nice Promenade of Colwyn Bay, the nice town of Llandudno, we enjoyed walking to the Aber falls, visited many National Trust properties and we even went to Portmeirion wich was about an hour from the cottage.

This is a very comfortable bungalow with lovely outlooks over the countryside, with peace and relaxation high on our agenda.

Peaceful location with amazing views.

The sky at night was stunning and the moon was spectacular.We saw birds of prey, bats, owls and not forgetting the sheep opposite. The cottage was spotless, 10 out of 10 for cleanliness. Excellent supply of essentials needed for your stay including tin foil, washing up liquid , bin bags and even hot water bottles for those chilly nights when your star gazing Even though the cottage is accessed via a single track road we didnt encounter any problems as we took the road slow and carefully As we dont have a bath, the bath in the cottage proved to be a welcome addition especially after a day of walking and pushing a wheelchair. Our son.was particularly taken with the cat and spent his evenings stroking and playing with her. This cottage was what was needed after a tough few years and provided us with the peace and relaxation that we have been missing.We will be back

What a wonderful getaway and secret place away from the business of life.

We loved waking up to the sound of nature and the stunning scenery that this perfectly formed holiday cottage is set in. It had everything we needed as a family of 4 (2 adults and 2 young children) very thankful that we stumbled on this beautiful holiday home, which was close to the beach and within a short distance from other spectacular Welsh attractions! Gwern Tyno is a great base for exploring North Wales and Anglesey.

This is our 2nd stay in this property and won't be our last. The property is very peaceful and on clear nights the sky is full of stars. There are all the amenities you need for a week away, and the washing machine, airer and rotary line are very handy. Finally our host Mrs Davies is very friendly and helpful, but even though the properties are side by side, you still feel very much secluded in the countryside!

Others have mentioned the access being via a lenghty narrow lane but it was quiet that week so no tricky reversing !

Proximity to town and beach and the great views from the cottage were plus points and overall it was a great base to explore North Wales .

What a lovely comfortable cottage in an idea location for exploring North wales.

Cottage very clean with so many utensils like you use daily at home, in all the years self catering never had a steamer, everything has been thought of and if it hasn't the owner Janet with try to accommodate. Very good size fridge and freezer so you don't have to shop every day. Janet can't do enough to make your holiday special. Would at some point love to return for another holiday as 1 week not long enough.

Just returned from a lovely week long stay in this lovely cottage.

Everything we needed available, couldn’t have asked for anything more. Facilities great. Janet was very welcoming and available if needed, even providing places to eat with addresses and postcodes of venues. Tried all except one and we were not disappointed. Would recommend The Toad locally, food and service excellent (ring to book as website always said no tables so we rang and no problem booking a table). Cottage is located for access to local towns and is a great place to be based for trips out and even to go walking. We took our 3 year old granddaughter and she loved watching the sheep in a morning and the birds around the cottage. Even went for a walk up the lane which she enjoyed as there were sheep and horses to see. Don’t be put off by the fact you have to drive up a narrow lane, there are places to pass and we did not encounter any problems at all. It is quite well lit in places, otherwise headlights and careful driving are all that is needed. Would absolutely love to return springtime and will definitely try to. Loved every minute of our stay.

the road to the property is only single file with very few places to pull in and pass anyone although it was fairly quiet it did prevent us from travelling along it of an evening

A great location, being a short drive into Colwyn Bay, for food aswell as the beach.

Close to Llandudno, and with so many other places of interest within an hour's drive. The property included everything we could need, with comfy seating and beds, aswell as all the bits you might forget, such as cling film, kitchen roll etc. On an evening, we only heard the odd hoot of an owl, and it was total dark skies. It is a single track road to get to the property, but there were enough passing places on the way. It is a compact property, but ideal for a family with young children. The outside space is great for children to run about and see the sheep in the neighbouring field. Janet was incredibly helpful and friendly and a great host, and we will definitely return!

Beautiful cottage in a lovely location overlooking the valley.

Our children loved seeing the sheep roam around the cottage. Lovely sandy beach 5 minute drive away with good facilities. Janet, the owner, really looked after us during our stay and even lent the children some toys. Plenty of room for a family of four. Just a note, if you have a child who needs a cot, there isn’t much room left to put one so probably best if the children are old enough for beds. We did, however, manage to squeeze our cot in and had a very enjoyable stay. Highly recommended.

Sykes mentions that there is a pub within 15 mins walk, this is true but it is not the place I would recommend for families or holiday makers and think this should be removed from the summary on the web site.

Beautiful views up the valley from the lounge window. Mrs Davies, the owner, was very pleasant and helpful. A well placed cottage for exploring this part of Wales. Plenty to see within a short distance, Great and Little Orme, Conwy RSPB reserve, Conwy Castle and plenty more we didn’t get time to see. Good reason to return.

Mrs Davies was very helpful and made sure every thing was alright, our third visit to North Wales never disappointing, cosy cottage great views plenty of places to visit or walk what more do you want. Hopping to go back soon.

We had reservations about having a holiday this year, however staying at Gwern Tyno was just what we needed.

The cottage was beautiful and in a stunning location. The owner couldn't of been kinder and nothing was too much trouble. A thoroughly enjoyable stay.

This cottage was superb, the peace and quiet was incredible.

We wish we could say the same about the weather, but then it is Wales! We had a warm and friendly welcome with advice where the local shops were and where to visit in the area. We would definitely recommend the cottage, and are looking forward to visiting again.

Stayed August 2020: The location of this bungalow is ideal.

It’s On a farm up a single track road away from any main roads/traffic noise and a 5 minute drive to an expansive sandy beach . It’s easy to get to the Snowdonia National park by car too. We took our bikes and the owner allowed us to store them in one of her barns. The bungalow itself was immaculately clean, with plenty of space for 2 adults and 2 teenagers. Bedding and towels were provided. Cooking facilities were good, with plenty of kitchen equipment. There is a washing machine and washing line in the adjacent garden area which has a garden table for eating outside with views overlooking mountains. The owner lives in the house opposite and is on hand if you have any queries/issues. The shower hose started to leak on Sunday evening and a new complete shower unit was fitted by 10am on Monday morning. I would highly recommend this bungalow for location, facilities and cleanliness.

This is a beautiful place to stay.

The views were terrific. Very lovely lady, Janet the owner. Could have done with a couple of little implements in the kitchen, potato masher, roasting tin. Nothing we couldn't live without. Would certainly recommend it. The children love the sheep. They played roly poly on the grass lawn.

When we first arrived we received a great welcome, and the owners were always very friendly and available if we needed anything. The cottage itself had everything we needed, had been fairly recently decorated, and was child friendly. The location itself was a great base for exploring north Wales. There is a single track road to the property, but this didn't cause us any issues at all. I would highly recommend the property, and we'll definitely be back.

The cottage is in a lovely quiet location, particularly with gorse in flower down the valley, yet it is close enough to Colwyn Bay to make shopping and getting around North Wales easy. We would definitely recommend staying here to others!

The cottage was beautiful, lovely and clean.

The beds were very comfortable. However. I must say the narrow road to the cottage did bother me. It is a one track road and steep drops.

The only downside to this cottage and it is not of the owners doing is the single track road leading to the cottage.

No passing places!! The peace and quiet is surreal I woke at 1am with the bedroom window open and I thought I had gone deaf sooooo quiet and peaceful. this cottage ranks highly in my eyes and we have used Sykes cottages before.

We are sold on the facility you provide, again this cottage was everything we had hoped for .
