  • "Very nice house in lovely settings, a quiet location close to the estuary and complete with resident Heron and gulls."

The welcome pack and bottle of wine was a lovely surprise, and we found everything we needed to make our time there comfortable and relaxing. The house was spotlessly clean, the kitchen was well equipped and the furniture and beds were very comfortable. We had a very relaxing week at the cottage which we found within easy walking distance into Whitby town along the Cinder Track, or into the open countryside walking in the opposite direction. Car parking at the cottage was also a welcome bonus. Would definitely recommend to anyone looking for a nice relaxing break.

Thank you for your kind feedback. We hope to welcome you back to White Goose Cottage again in the near future Property Owner

  • "White Goose Cottage is a lovely, homely cottage perfectly situated to take in the spectacular Larpool viaduct."

We were lucky with the weather for the week were we there, so we’re able to take full advantage of the first floor balcony, overlooking part of the river Esk and the assorted bird life which can be seen throughout the day (not forgetting the trains!). The cottage is fully equipped with all you need to have a comfortable stay and we were even able to feed the local ducks from the front room. Whilst the hike up the hill to the main road, and to access the viaduct path into Whitby, is not very easy, it’s worth it for the views from the viaduct and the fairly short walk into Whitby itself. All in all, we had a lovely experience for our holiday and would definitely recommend this as a great place to stay.

Thank you so much for your lovely feedback and that you enjoyed your stay in White Goose Cottage The walk up the hill is hard but well worth it we hope to be able to welcome you again in the future Property Owner

  • "Had a lovely relaxing week at White Goose Cottage in a beautiful setting."

The cottage is very cosy and very well equipped with everything we needed. Lovely walk into Whitby with a huge selection of places to eat….. thankfully I didn’t have to cook…… Terry’s was one of our favourites for Fish and Chips….. and doggy friendly too. Weather was quite good considering time of year but when you’re prepared it’s not a problem. Highly recommended. We loved it and hope to return in the near future.

  • "We recently booked this house for my Mums birthday present."

She really enjoyed herself. Even when the weather wasn’t great, she could sit and enjoy the beautiful view, or drive into Whitby. There’s a lovely walk over the viaduct as well, which is a great way to get into town. The house was clean, warm and had everything needed for a week away. The owner was really helpful and friendly by email. We’d definitely book again.

  • "White goose cottage makes a good first impression, standards are good everywhere except the kitchen."

Lovely location, comfy sofas, slept well. Common self catering issues with mirrors too high, no sockets and tables near mirrors, not enough bedside lamps, tired furniture. Quite a few maintenance issues throughout which have been raised directly with the owner, nothing that would be a deal breaker. Although we had a pleasant week, we didn't have an acceptable start to our holiday, for that reason I would not return to this cottage, but I would return to this location. Having to spend our first night cleaning kitchen cupboards and washing anything we intended to use is a dealbreaker for us. Cracked, chipped, marked, dirty dinner sets, dirty glasses, dirty cutlery and dirty pans are completely unacceptable. Needs replacing or washing properly. Far too much stuff, cupboards so full you have nowhere to put your food. If there was less stuff, more empty cupboard space, it would be easier to wipe shelves between guests and check all items are clean. Some of the grime build up goes back weeks. Pity I can't share pictures! You'll have to trust me when I say you would not want to cook in those pans, eat off those plates, or drink from those glasses until you've picked out the best of the worst and put it through an intense wash cycle. I wonder if the areas we had issues with are areas that guests are given responsibility for and it really needs adding to the cleaners list (who did a very good job on cooker, fridge, freezer, and kitchen counters). Such a shame for the cottage to be let down and undervalued by something so simple to keep on top of.

  • "A nice property situated next to the river at the bottom of the viaduct (used only as a foot path and a nice feature to the landscape)."

Very peaceful setting with lovely views of the river from the living room and balcony. Whitby is about half hour walk away on the Cinder Track which is pretty flat and paved (although you have quite a hill at the start to get from the house to the viaduct and onto the Cinder Track) . House was lovely and warm with heating already on on our arrival. The accommodation is nicely furnished if nothing special. The two down sides were the hot water was hit and miss and the spare room is a tad small (fine for our 3 year old but would be on the small side for teenagers and adults). All in all we had a great stay and will book again.

  • "We have stayed in White Goose Cottage before so knew what to expect."

Everything was good but was dismayed to find that the owner no longer provided towels which also meant that no floor towel in the bathroom or tea towels. Also we were sure that previously there were fleeces and a foot stall in the living area but alas not this time. However, we enjoyed our stay and the setting, ambiance and location made it a very relaxing time.

  • "The cottage was fantastic, really well equipped, comfortable and clean, and in the loveliest setting, by the river."

It was very tranquil, and allowed us to have a relaxed, quiet holiday. It was only a short walk into Whitby, and a longer, but well recommended walk on the cinder track to Robin Hoods Bay. It was about 6 miles, but a really easy walk with lovely views towards the end. Whitby never disappoints, even in a pandemic, and White Goose Cottage was a lovely place to stay.

  • "Great location overlooking the River Esk."

Loved the balcony. The property was comfortable, warm and well equipped. We had our original booking for a different property cancelled due to change of ownership which caused a bit of stress. Regarding the key code for White Goose Cottage, we hadn't been given it by mid week and as we were due to travel over on the Friday, I had to ring up and pursue it.
