  • "Our second visit to this cosy little retreat."

Love the location and facilities offered at the cottage. Welcoming festive decorations were provided by the owner and the cottage proved to be a comfortable bolthole away from the rain and gales over the Christmas period.

Happy new year and see you again very soon I hope. Judy Property Owner

  • "Beautiful and peaceful!"

A lovely place to stay. The cottage is lovely, situated in a stunning location on the owners land. Breathtaking surroundings in an isolated spot, with local shops, cafes and restaurants within a short distance by car - the cottage is situated in an ideal location. Kind and pleasant owner, who is very welcoming but also respects your privacy and space. We never felt ‘watched over’, just welcome. Facilities included a large shower, dishwasher, washer, over, log fire, built in fridge with small freezer compartment - all working and highly maintained. The bedroom comprises of a large bed, which is very comfortable, and warm with the heating. We found no fault with our stay 10/10. I would definitely be returning as a guest, and I can’t wait!

Thank you! It was a pleasure to meet you. Happy Christmas Judy Property Owner

The Yorkshire Dales National Park boundary is within 5 minutes drive too. This combination offers all sorts of possibilities whatever the Pennine weather. The stone built conversion is surrounded by tended grass and farm pasture with views along lower Wharfedale and up to Ilkley Moor. It is so peaceful as it is up a long drive and hidden from the main road . It has very well equipped kitchen; both seating and bed are extremely comfortable and our November stay was cosy thanks to the automatic radiator central heating .( a log burner is also available) Our booking and arrangements for arrival were handled efficiently and the owner takes time and trouble to ensure that you are comfortable -and fully informed. A perfect hideaway for a couple.

As well as a £30 administration fee, Sykes keep the rental cost at the higher rate. We change our week from September to October which should have saved us £70 but not according to Sykes who insisted on charging us at the higher rate (in addition to their £30 administration fee). We won't be using Sykes again!

About the location

ADDINGHAM

Bolton Abbey 3 miles; Ilkley 3 miles; Skipton 4 miles.

The historic village of Addingham nestles in the valley of the River Wharfe between Ilkley and Skipton, just 3 miles from the Dales National Park at Bolton Abbey. In the Doomsday Book, Addingham is referred to as 'Ediham', which probably meant 'Home of Edi', the Earl Edwin of Bolton Abbey. A corn mill was mentioned in 1315, near where High Mill is today, and the weir across the river is one of the oldest medieval structures in the village. Today's village is a thriving, small community with several good pubs serving fine ale and excellent food, a scattering of small shops and a delightful golf course surrounded by breathtaking countryside. Nearby Bolton Abbey is one of the region's most scenic areas and the walk along the river to the 'Strid' is a must. The Victorian Spa town of Ilkley is worth a visit, with its wide streets, world-famous Box Tree Restaurant and Bettys Tea Rooms, while Ilkley Moor is the subject of Yorkshire's unofficial anthem “On Ilkla Moor Baht at”. Grassington and Malham are within reach, plus Skipton is also close by with its ancient castle, beautiful old parish church, colourful street market, canal trips and Embsay Steam Railway.
