  • "A beautiful location and a friendly owner who introduced herself on our arrival."

The cottage was perfect for dog owners due to the garden. Perhaps being able to access the property earlier would have made our stay better. At 4pm in the Winter months, the daylight is going and there’s nothing to do apart from stay indoors.

Well situated cottage to Ashbourne and other villages and towns and local walks. Very dog friendly and cottage is lovely and cosy. Owner and family were very welcoming as well as the local pub just up the road. The pub also welcomes dogs and even has a owner and doggy night for food. Will definitely stay again. There was a warm welcome from the owner on arrival and some good advice on local walks etc. The cottage was comfortable, cosy, clean and had everything we needed for an enjoyable stay. The enclosed gardens were ideal for our chocolate Labrador and the best we have experienced. There are good walks right from the front door, through the yard and onto the fields beyond. A short walk away is the Shire Horse Pub that is dog friendly and serves good pub food. Ashbourne also had many dog friendly pubs that also served very good food. We enjoyed our stay so much that we will be booking to stay again next year. Mike, Jan and Poppy.

About the location

EDLASTON

Ashbourne 3 miles.

Edlaston is a lovely rural hamlet just 3 miles from the beautiful market town of Ashbourne. Lying at the southern end of the Peak District, Ashbourne is a perfect example of a Derbyshire market town - there is a market place with stalls, an eccentric street plan, narrow cobbled alleys, coaching inns and almshouses. In its heyday in the 18th Century, the town was a fashionable social centre and many fine Georgian buildings remain from this period. Today the town still has much to offer in terms of restaurants and inns and is regarded as something of a haven for antique hunters - but don't expect a bargain! For those who prefer more outdoor pursuits, the Dove and Manifold Valleys are close by. Alton Towers is just 20 minutes away.
