BRADWELL Castleton 3 miles; Buxton 11 miles; Bakewell 12 miles. Sandwiched by towering cliffs between the Hope Valley and Bradwell Dale, Bradwell is a pretty Peaks village, lying within the Peak National Park. Bagshawe Cavern, reached by 130 steep steps, sits on the edge of the village and is a reminder of its mining history. Nearby, and well worth a visit, are the famous Peak, Blue John, Treak Cliff and Speedwell Caverns, whilst the David Mellor Design Museum in the village of Hathersage is not to be missed. The picturesque village of Castleton is just three miles away and is overlooked by the crumbling Mam Tor or "Shivering Mountain" with the dramatic Winnats Pass - a steep, narrow defile between the high limestone cliffs winding by.
