The village has two pubs (both serving food), a Post Office & General Stores, a bakery and tearooms. There is also an excellent National Park Visitor Centre at Danby Lodge - a historic building set in 13 acres of riverside pasture, with facilities which include exhibitions, nature trails and tea rooms. Danby also boasts the ruins of a 14th Century Castle and the only remaining working water mill on the River Esk. The scenic Esk Valley Railway line runs through the village on its way to Whitby. The quaint moorland villages of Hutton-le-hole and Lastingham, the market town of Pickering, the City of York and the Yorkshire Coast villages of Staithes, Saltburn and Robin Hood's Bay are all within easy touring distance. The property has been created from the skilful conversion of old farm buildings and is attached to the owners' 17th century farmhouse. It is set in a delightful walled garden and has a south facing cobbled courtyard with garden furniture. Inside, the accommodation is comfortable and well-equipped and is tastefully furnished and decorated throughout. An ideal retreat at any time of the year and a great place to combine a country and seaside holiday. Accommodation Three bedrooms: 1 x double with TV and wonderful views over Moors, 2 x twin. Bathroom with bath (with electric shower over), washbasin and WC. Ground floor cloakroom with washbasin and WC. Well equipped fitted kitchen with spacious dining area overlooking courtyard. Sitting room with open fire and French doors leading to south facing cobbled courtyard.
Amenities Heating from electric storage heaters and additional heating from open fire in sitting room. Electric cooker, microwave, fridge, washing machine, dishwasher, 2 x colour TVs, DVD player, CD player etc. Fuel and power inc. in rent. Bed linen inc. in rent. Cot and highchair by request. Sunny courtyard with garden furniture and shared use of owner's large enclosed garden. Off road parking for 3 cars. Well behaved pet welcome at £10 charge. Sorry no smoking. Shop 10 mins and pub 5 mins walk. |
