The pretty Teesdale village of Staindrop has always been closely associated with the fortunes of nearby Raby Castle and its owners. The Castle (open to the public) is one of the most grand in England. Enlarged and beautified over the centuries, the medieval heart remains and a walled garden and 200 acre deer park add to the splendour. Staindrop has many interesting shops, pubs and cafes set round its long village green. On two levels, this property offers 'upside down' accommodation, taking advantage of the views of the surrounding countryside. Superbly converted, with a spacious feel, this property provides accommodation every visitor will enjoy. Note: Butterwick and Millstone can be offered together to form a single unit accommodating 10/12, with bedrooms and 4 bathrooms. This is done by way of opening up a solid wood soundproof door between the two cottages, ensuring complete privacy when the units are taken separately, and a cosy atmosphere when taken together.
