  • "A very quirky little house in a great location."

Wadebridge is a great base from which to explore Cornwall. The cottage is comfortable with a lovely little balcony with a pretty view. It is well equipped and we felt very at home and relaxed.

  • "Pros - Excellent location (quiet and close to town centre)."

Good views from lounge. Suitable for 2 adults and 2 small children. Cons - whilst I appreciated having the condiments and basic kitchen items (ketchup, sauces, vinegar and oils etc) there were a lot of tin and packet food items (opened) that were way past the best before date (some 2018). Also 2 out of the 3 drawers in the freezer were full of opened frozen food only leaving 1 drawer for use. Overall a pleasant stay.

Thanks for the feedback. Sounds like our 'basic' cupboard items have been added to so will review what we leave in there and the freezer in future. Obviously anything out of date should have been thrown away? Sorry for any inconvenience and hope it didn't spoil your enjoyment Property Owner

Had everything we needed. The view from the living room/balcony is beautiful. The photos on the website don't do it justice. Lived the layout. Great base to explore most of Cornwall. Most places were only 30 mins away. Would definitely stay there again.

Thank you so much for your lovely comments. We hope you come back to Avalenn again soon Property Owner

  • "This property is second to none."

From the location to the interior design everything about it is amazing. The owners are very helpful and responsive and the property was spotless. Would really recommend this as a great spot for a couple or small family to have a holiday in Wadebridge, Cornwall - which is really a perfect town to stay in my opinion with neighbouring beaches and towns less than 20 minutes away and all large supermarkets located just on the outskirts circa 5 minute drive away.

Thank you so much for your lovely comments, we love it too. We hope you might return again soon. Very best wishes, Heather and John Property Owner

  • "This was our second time staying at Avalenn."

Again cosy, clean, very well equipped: very much a home from home. (I could get quite possessive about it!). Much use was made of brekkie on the balcony with the morning sun, but as the sun moves around the house during the day, it does not leave the house baking hot by the evening, something to cherish in the summer. The heating was on loads and we were toasty warm and did not need the fire. Great location for exploring North Cornwall. Just a really lovely holiday home and we had another great time. We will be back again.

Thank you so much for your lovely comments. We look forward to hearing from you again soon. John & Heather Property Owner

It has a lovely view as described from the living room and is very accessible for the Camel Trail. It was too wet to make use of the back garden but it was good for bike storage. The house was quiet at night and it was lovely waking to the view and to the sight and sounds of wading birds. An excellent base for exploring a beautiful area.

  • "Quirky cottage on 4 split levels."

Very well equipped and lots of useful informaion. Always a parking space outside but wasn't sure if there was an allocated space. Garden secure very small but had a quaint bit of decking. Wadebridge was nice - try the Camel Trail to Padstow. Lots to do in the surrounding areas - enjoyed the go-karting at St Eval whilst Daymer Bay and Polperro were lovely. One accommodation negative though. Second bedroom was tiny and not suitable for 2 teenaagers - what you see in the photo is essentially all you get.. Also doesn't help that you have to walk through it to access the back garden so little privacy. Would stay again but only as a couple with dog.

  • "We had an amazing time."

The property was spotless, fully equipped and very homely...not at all like a rented out holiday cottage. It is within 5 minutes' (literally) walk of the town, but not at all noisy. The balcony is a great addition over looking the river. It is right by the Camel Trail to Padstow and Bodmin and we took our bikes to take advantage of this. My brother and partner joined us "for a few days" but ended up staying the week as they loved it so much. It's perfect for exploring and/or beach lolling. We will definitely book again. Thank you for making it such a great holiday...maybe I should have given a negative review then no-one would book it and we'd have it all to ourselves in future!!!

Awe, thats so nice. We are obviously biased but we agree with you totally. Look forward to welcoming you back to Avalenn in the future. Best wishes. Heather & John Property Owner

  • "We enjoyed our stay at Avalenn Cottage."

It is handy for Wadebridge with its shops and facilities and travel to other parts of Cornwall is easy. Despite the property being semi-detached it is very quiet and we never heard any noise from the neighbours (who were very friendly when we met them). Our dog also enjoyed having use of the (enclosed) back garden. There was a minor issue with the bin collection, but a quick email to the owners and it was sorted the next day. There were just a few points that the owners might like to consider: the curtains in the main bedroom were quite thin and we were awake at 4:30 every morning with light coming through (I appreciate might not be an issue for every one); also a rubber bath mat in the bath would be good (I'm not exactly infirm yet, but a wet slippery bath can be difficult to negotiate). As a dog owner, I was concerned about the number of oil diffusers dotted about. Some essential oils can be dangerous to dogs if they breathe in the droplets. I didn't know what the contents were, so shut them in the washing machine cupboard during out stay. Perhaps old fashioned air fresheners would be better. I don't want my comments to sound like a criticism as we enjoyed our stay overall, and would book again if in the area.

Absolutely loved the split levels of the house and the balcony was amazing. Also loved the kitchen area overlooking the living room. The location was perfect for walking into the centre of Wadebridge to explore the shops & pubs....accessing the Camel Trail to Padstow or Bodmin and also for driving to all other areas of Cornwall. Will definitely be re-booking in the future. Its a 10/10 from us.

The property was was as described and it's great for two people who can negotiate stairs. Enjoyed my breakfast coffee by the window in the living room with the view, and the sun pouring in. Fully equipped kitchen but luckily I brought my cafetiere. The breakfast bar in the kitchen was a unique feature as it overlooked the living room. We did cook a couple of times and it went very well. A good shower. Comfortable bed. Quiet neighbours. Always a parking space outside and it's a short walk into town. The town is a nice place with lots of proper independent shops, butchers and bakers and a few supermarkets. Not just prettified tourist outlets! A cinema too which we used. Great location to visit the local area as there is a lot to see in a 15 mile radius. Hope to return.

It was obvious on arrival that previous guests had brought their dogs (see visitors book comments). With one of us being severe asthmatic we would not have booked this cottage. No facility for swapping duvet - arrived in 32 degrees (hottest day of year) followed by 2 weeks of hot weather and only a 13.5 tog duvet. Had to buy our own summer weight duvet just to get a good nights sleep.
