  • "Buckinghams Leary Farm is a comfortable home from home cottage in a quiet farmland setting ."

Despite the cold wet spell at the start of our holiday the cottage was warm and it was no problem spending the afternoons indoors. The beds and bedding were excellent. The lounge was big enough for board games and cards at the table while others relaxed on the sofa. It is a short drive to Barnstaple and South Molton, two places we enjoyed visiting.

  • "A beautiful countryside property."

A comfortable, warm and spacious home from home, well situated for exploring Exmoor and the the North Devon Coast. We were a family of 6 plus one bouncy collie, who loved the large enclosed garden. The kids loved the Rock and Rapids which is just down the road - for bouldering, line climbing, archery and more! Highly recommend

The cottage was very clean and the large enclosed garden was ideal for the dog. Maybe next time the weather will be kinder so that we could make use of the barbeque.

The children really loved seeing the sheep and cows close up plus the ride in the Gator . We would love to go back again as our week went far too fast. It was also ideally placed for where we wanted to visit , including watermouth castle and Lynton , Lynmouth , the kids enjoyed the lift there. Also if you stay with little ones approx 2 miles away is Quince Bee Farm which has a very good play barn with lovely staff.

Little extras provided by Ann- hand soap in the toilets and milk on arrival appreciated. Beds very comfortable. Enjoyed the pheasants strolling about, the owls and spotted a partridge one day. We would have liked to have had some information on the local area a map, bookets, where to visit etc as had never visited the area before but realise in this current climate that’s not possible even if we disposed of them afterwards.

The place was really comfortable and there was a welcome pack in case tea and coffee or indeed milk had been forgotten. We had wondered whether there would be any farming aroma when sitting outside but not a bit of it, we had many pleasant hours enjoying the sunshine. The owners Ann and Chris were very friendly and willing to go the extra mile. This included taking my father around the farm so he could see how dairy farming had changed in the 75 years since he had last worked on one! We would definitely come back, as have others as was shown by all the positive comments in the visitors book and the large number of return guests.

Everything about our stay was just charming and exceeded every expectation we had. The cottage is just beautiful and had everything we could possibly had needed. Chris and Ann made us feel well at home and even dropped round a bottle of fizz on the day of our anniversary. Chris took us all on a ride in his gator truck around the land to see the cows and sheep which gave us some breathtakingly beautiful views of the area. Chris also encouraged the children to feed the lambs and calves which they absolutely loved! We came here for a break from our hectic and busy lives, we left feeling closer and more connected family and having gained new friends. Will most definitely be back to visit next year! A home from a home. Thank you Chris & Ann for a wonderful experience. Mr & Mrs Munn

  • "Lovely cottage in a fabulous location-so many great places to visit within easy reach."

Cottage is clean, warm and comfortable, with everything we needed. However, what really sets this cottage apart, aside from the beautiful setting in the heart of a working farm, is the hosts, Chris and Ann. Their warmth and hospitality exceeded our expectations and they could not have been any more welcoming, yet weren’t in the slightest bit intrusive. It’s clear that they genuinely want every guest to have an amazing holiday, and we certainly did. Chris was delighted to show us around the farm and let our little boy help feed the animals. He also took us out in the Gator (farm vehicle) so that we could see their cattle in the fields and also so we could appreciate the amazing views of the farm and surrounding countryside. Cannot recommend this cottage enough and we would love to return. Thank you Chris and Ann for a wonderful holiday and fantastic memories!

It is particularly good if you have dogs especially if your dog doesn't get on well with other dogs as there are lots of empty fields next to the cottage that you can walk in. There are no neighbours except Chris and Ann, who are lovely and very helpful, but you are not far from barnstaple or ilfracombe. Tescos is a 5 minute drive towards barnstaple. You can watch calves being born and Chris will give children a ride on his tractor. This was our second visit and it won't be our last.

The property

This traditional farm cottage is attached to the owners' thatched Devon farmhouse, on a working dairy farm in Filleigh near South Molton.

The farm is tenanted and forms part of the renowned Castle Hill Estate, a Grade I listed park and gardens.

Set within an idyllic rural location and with amazing far reaching views, this comfortably-furnished cottage provides an ideal getaway for a family or group of friends.

Spread over three floors, there is a family bedroom on the second floor, an en-suite double, an additional double bedroom and bathroom on the first floor, plus a kitchen and sitting room on the ground floor.

Both the front and back doors of the cottage open to a spacious enclosed garden with lawn, patio, furniture and extensive views across the cow barns to the countryside beyond.

Children will love the swings, dogs are safely enclosed and the adults can sit and relax whilst enjoying a barbecue.

The farmers love to encourage their guests to feed the calves, admire the lambs, all of which gives a real taste of Devon rural life.

The local village thatched pub is very popular with families and as this lovely cottage is so accessible from the A361, it is easy to reach the market town of South Molton for shopping.

Exmoor provides a great escape for walkers and wildlife lovers, whilst the spectacular North Devon beaches are all a short drive from your holiday cottage and provide endless sea, sand and surf for all members of the family.

A welcoming cottage near the moorland and coast, perfect for families and lovers of a quiet life on the farm.
