GREAT FRYUP DALE Lealholm 2 miles; Whitby 14 miles. Few will have heard of this rather oddly named Dale with its scattering of farms and houses, but here is a gem waiting to be discovered! Tucked away in the North York Moors National Park, Fryup Dale is a quiet, unspoilt area - an ideal base from which to explore the surrounding Heartbeat country, on foot, by bike or car. The surrounding heather clad moors are truly magnificent - a delight for walkers who revel in the many footpaths and trails across the moorland. For train lovers there are trains from nearby Lealholm running through the lovely Esk Valley to Whitby, calling at many of the pretty Moors villages on the way. The Esk Valley line links with the ever popular North York Moors Steam Railway at Grosmont. The nearest beach is 10 miles away at idyllic Runswick Bay. A superb base for a holiday in this outstanding area!
