We have an exciting new addition to our selection of Craster
holiday cottages -
Craster Reach (Ref. 10782)!
Escape to the delightful village of Craster, situated in an Area
of Outstanding Natural Beauty on Northumberland's breathtaking
coast.
No visit would be complete without a stop at L. Robinson &
Sons' shop. This thriving fishing community is home to the
kipper and Robinsons are internationally renowned for the quality
and flavour of their humble smoked herring and exceptional smoked
salmon. Imagine the breakfasts in your Craster holiday cottage!
Put on your boots and head for the coastal path. First stop, the
striking ruins of Dunstanburgh Castle, perched on a windswept
headland and battered by gunfire in the War of the Roses. With
waves crashing against the rocks, the scene's a theatrical one
not-to-be-missed. Continue on to the sugary sands of Embleton Bay,
keeping your eyes peeled for the 'vanishing rock', and
further still to Beadnell and the bustling town of Seahouses - a
ten mile stretch in total.
Trace the history of the Craster Family whom the village is
named after and view their imposing residence, Craster Tower. Or
step back to the Middle Stone Age in nearby Howick and explore the
extraordinary remains of an ancient settlement. Enjoy a spot of
bird-watching? Craster's local quarry has been transformed into
a nature reserve, protected by the Northumberland Wildlife Trust.
Craster's central location on the Heritage Coast makes it a
perfect base for getting to know this wonderful county better, with
The Alnwick Garden and the Northumberland National Park just two
suggestions.
Whatever you do, wherever you go, your Craster cottage holiday
will be one to remember!
