Forrabury Holiday Cottages
Forrabury coastal parish in northern Cornwall encompasses the delightful village of Boscastle, a popular choice for self-catering cottage holidays with good amenities like cafés, restaurants, pubs and shops.
This remote region is known for its dramatic, rugged coastline washed by Atlantic waves and Boscastle Harbour is one of a handful of natural inlets that led to it becoming a port. Watch out for the sea spray lashing through the blow hole, grey seals bobbing on the waves, razorbills and guillemots breeding on steep cliffs. Do also take time to walk up from the harbour and on up through the village to Forrabury Church, featuring a fine granite roof and affording magnificent coastal views.
The National Trust protects much of the land close to our Forrabury holiday cottages, including the cliffs of Willapark and Penally guarding each side of the harbour. Inland, meanwhile, is an amazing example of medieval crop farming known as the Forrabury Stitches.
Nearby coastal villages to visit include Tintagel, Port Isaac and Crackington Haven, all promising spectacular scenery, wonderful wildlife, exciting activities, extreme sports and Arthurian legends. Pop into Boscastle's Visitor Centre for these and other daytrip ideas.
Top class events not-to-miss!
Why not time your break to a Forrabury holiday rental around one of Boscastle's events? In April for the Walking Week, where you can enjoy guided, cliff-top rambles or trace the steps of Thomas Hardy along sleepy, country lanes. Or in October for the Food & Arts Festival, established after the flood of 2004 and today one of the county's best and biggest gatherings - do book your Forrabury holiday home early for this one!
