Gatehouse of Fleet is a pleasant village with many attractive features. Its location, of course, along with charming people, individual shops, a real-ale pub serving good food and a challenging 9-hole golf course boasting spectacular views.

It's an excellent centre for walking, whether you explore the rocky coastline, follow the trails of Cally Oak or Carstramon Woods; or head a little further afield to Fleet Valley or the Galloway Forest Park. Mountain biking and cycling are popular too.

Taking the family? Children will love the sandy beaches - there are twelve close to the village - ideal for swimming and water sports. Or take them to Cream O'Galloway for delicious organic ice-cream, a tour of the farm and fun in their natural adventure playground.

Cally Gardens is an absolute must for anyone with green fingers. Open from Easter to September, this working nursery showcases over 4,000 perennials within an ancient walled garden.
