Just Show Me Hebden Bridge Cottages
Welcome to one of our funkiest towns, oozing real character in
west Yorkshire's Pennine country. Back in the 60s, the hippies
came and brought with them a lovely laid-back vibe that lingers on.
And it's such a fantastic place to browse, with boutique shops
and bustling markets, stylish restaurants and cosy tearooms, trendy
bars and traditional pubs - old and new all happily mingling
together.
Cross the old packhorse bridge and step back to the thriving era
of textile production. Note the skyline accentuated by stone mills
and lofty chimneys. Wander around St. George's Square, with its
fine Victorian façades and talented street musicians. Or float
through town on the Rochdale Canal under the power of carthorse.
Enjoy a night at the movies in the 1920s' Picture House or
live entertainment in the Little Theatre. Tap your toes in the
Trades Club or opt for lazy Sunday jazz. Or plan your Hebden Bridge
cottage break around an event - duck racing, vintage cars, brass
band galas, arts or the legendary World Dock Pudding Championships!
Ten minutes from town, expect glorious countryside of wooded
valleys and heather-clad moorland. Test your stamina with a yomp
along the Calderdale Way or Pennine Way. Another favourite is the
Mary Towneley Loop, gateway to the Pennine Bridleway and ideal
terrain for riders, mountain bikers and walkers. And don't miss
Hardcastle Crags for guided walks and Gibson Mill, or Haworth for
literature, both just down the road.
There's something for everyone on a Hebden Bridge cottage
holiday!
