Beacon Fell

If you’re after an easy to moderate hike in the Lake District, search no further than Beacon Fell. The 836-foot fell offers a four-mile, circular hike that provides amazing views.

The hike begins at the parking area near Lake Bank. Venture north from the parking area, where you’ll an information board and a grassy path weaving through Blawith Common.

After following this path uphill for a while, be sure to turn around and soak up those exceptional views of Coniston Water! After pausing for a moment, continue on the path towards the rock tors on Slatestone Fell.

Once you’ve hit the summit of Slatestone Fell, you’ll be able to spot the most important part of the hike: Beacon Fell’s peak!

The grassy path continues from here and into Tarn Beck valley. Follow this until you reach a footbridge. Cross the bridge to join onto a stone path which leads to Beacon Tarn.

After reaching Beacon Tarn, you can kick back and unwind in front of the glistening waters of the lake. From here, an ascent path will bring you towards Beacon Fell’s summit. During this part of the hike views of Whit Fell and Stickle Pike can be enjoyed.

You’ll eventually cross Bleak Knott, where a choice of paths await. Head for the right-hand path; this part of the hike is a little steep, so take care.

After completing the steep climb, you’ll be at the top of Beacon Fell! Take a moment to catch your breath at the top while also taking in those vistas.

Once you’ve reached the top, retrace your steps back to the car park. This is the easiest part of the hike and offers even more panoramas to admire.

A hike packed with beautiful sights awaits at Beacon Fell…
