Museum on the Mound Exterior Front

Museum on the Mound

You can uncover this marvellous museum within the Bank of Scotland’s Head Office. Offering free admission, this is an accessible attraction for those interested in all things economics!

Museum on the Mound is well-adapted for everyone, with wheelchair accessibility throughout. Induction loops, sensory maps and large print guides are also provided.

There are a wealth of exhibits to uncover, from Scotland’s oldest banknote to a million pounds. There are many interactive displays, too; you can even break open a safe!

One highlight of the museum is the Tale of Two Banks display. Here you can discover the history of Lloyds Bank and Bank of Scotland, and how they’re intertwined.

Another great exhibit is Money Matters, where you can uncover all the shapes and sizes money has come in. You’ll be able to learn how money has evolved and become such a huge part of our lives.

As well as the museum’s permanent exhibits, you can view special, temporary displays. Some of the past exhibits have focused on forgery and even included ballet performances!

After touring the seven intriguing rooms, make your next stop the gift shop. Here you can buy a special souvenir, from banknote tea towels to prints of Forth Bridge.

Receive an in-depth look into Scotland’s financial background on an exploration of this family-friendly attraction…
