Bird in sky

RSPB Ynys-Hir

Explore the stunning mixture of habitats at Ynyrs-hir including Welsh oak woodland, estuary saltmarsh, lowland wet grasslands and freshwater pools. Within these habitats, you’ll find an array of fascinating species.

In the woodlands, you’ll find redstart, wood warblers and spotted woodpeckers as well as bluebells in the spring. The estuary salt marsh is teeming with white-fronted geese, golden plover, lapwing and wigeon in the autumn and winter.

The freshwater pools attract grasshopper warblers and water rail in winter along with dragonflies, butterflies, otters, lizards, slow worms and grass snakes.

There is a visitor centre, toilets and refreshments onsite.

Enjoy a lovely day out at Ynys-Hir…
