Rydal Mount and Gardens

The historic house and gardens of Rydal Mount rest between Ambleside and Grasmere in the Lake District National Park. It’s the ideal place to visit if you’re a Wordsworth fan or simply after an idyllic day out.

Rydal Mount House itself dates to the 16th century and makes for a fantastic tour. It was the last family home of Wordsworth; he lived here from 1813-1650.

On an exploration of the house, you can look forward to seeing how Wordsworth and his family once lived. An array of their precious belongings and paintings also await!

The gardens of Rydal Mount and Gardens are definitely a highlight. Wordsworth had a love for landscape gardening, which you’ll be able to see while you explore all five acres of it. Elevated terraces, water features and panoramic views of Windermere Lake can be found here.

After exploring the house and gardens, be sure to stop at the tearoom to tuck into a variety of tasty cakes and drinks.

A peaceful day of lovely sights, history and delicious treats awaits at Rydal Mount and Gardens…
