Surprise View, perched on a cliff face high above Derwentwater, provides a breathtaking vantage point for seeing Bassenthwaite Lake and the reservoir shortly before the Ashness Bridge.
From the Keswick to Borrowdale road at Ashess Pier, a very tiny road with passing spaces leads to the hamlet of Watendlath. Before going across the renowned Ashness Bridge, there is first a difficult ascent.
