Marketing Vacancy - SEO Executive

Due to continued success and expansion, Sykes Cottages, the leading independent UK holiday cottage company are recruiting for more online marketers to join the team. You will be responsible for implementing parts of the online marketing strategy and increasing the company's web presence. Direct experience is not essential as full training will be provided, however a sound knowledge of online media is required.

Main Duties
  • Negotiate & obtaining inbound weblinks from external websites
  • Writing content to be published on Sykes' websites
  • Amending on-page elements to ensure greater respect from search engines
  • Recording and reporting of all work done

Essential Skills
  • Impeccable writing skills
  • Friendly and professional phone manner
  • Commercial mindset that makes deals happen at the right price
  • Basic knowledge of search engines and how they work
  • Good knowledge of Excel and Word

Skills & Experience Looked Favourably Upon

IT Opportunities

The Role

Working for a sector-leading, rapidly expanding organisation based in Chester, the IT department develops its own in-house systems and public-facing websites. You will use open-source PHP/MySQL technologies to develop and support sites and applications providing CRM, CMS, mobile, and ecommerce functionality. Working as part of a talented IT team, and dealing with business users directly, you will have the opportunity to learn from your peers and get hands-on exposure to all the company's systems.

The Person

Mandatory

  • Minimum 1 year's commercial experience open source web technologies: LAMP stack (PHP, MySQL, Apache, Linux), Javascript, Ajax, HTML, XML, CSS, XSL.
  • Must have developed a range of dynamic database-driven websites using these technologies.
  • Must be able to work with other internal departments including effective communication with individuals.
  • Experience of website design and front-end development.
  • Ability to deliver projects within timescales in a fast-paced environment.
  • Bright and self-motivated individual, fast learning , flexible, and willing to get involved in all aspects of the department's work.


The ideal candidate will also have:

  • Worked in a structured team environment based on technical specifications, test plans, and version control.
  • Developed and maintained sites optimised for SEO.
  • A degree in an IT-related subject, preferably software development.
