For a city stay with coast and countryside right on your doorstep, try a Truro cottage.
Pick up leaflets and tips at the tourist office and perhaps join a guided tour. Truro features a wealth of striking Georgian architecture, including the Crown Courts, Assembly Rooms, Walsingham Place and Lemon Street. The city's real gem, however, is its splendid neo-gothic cathedral, with ornate stained glass and soaring spires.
A shopper's delight, high street names and exclusive boutiques sit beside gift shops, galleries and bustling markets - try Pydar Mews, Victoria Square and Little Castle Street. On Wednesdays and Saturdays, fill up your Truro cottage's larder at Lemon Quay farmers' market, showcasing delicious Cornish goodies. Or dine out in one of the many pavement cafs, stylish restaurants and trendy bars.
