The coastline almost wraps around the entire county, so you're never far from a beach, especially when your home-from-home is one of our Cornwall coast cottages. The north coast's sweeping bays and pounding Atlantic rollers create a playground for all kinds of water sports and it's a fantastic place to learn how to surf. The south coast brings the Lizard Peninsula with its white sand coves and vivid turquoise seas and, of course, Land's End, last stop before the Scilly Isles.
Another reason to pick a holiday home on the Cornish coast is to walk the South West Coastal Path, offering gentle stretches and challenging chunks - and always spectacular views. A classic Cornish pasty makes a wonderful picnic en-route or you may opt for a more leisurely stop in one of the many fishing villages, perhaps at a quayside restaurant for a seafood platter or catch-of-the-day.
Or time your Cornish cottage holiday around one of Cornwall's fabulous festivals. Highlights include the midsummer celebrations of Golowan in Penzance, the Newlyn Fish Festival and Fowey Royal Regatta in August, Falmouth Oyster Festival in October, Mousehole Christmas Lights, the Maypole carnival of Obby Oss in Padstow or Run to the Sun - an extravaganza of VWs, music and comedy at Newquay every May.
