Wedged between the White and Dark Peak areas of the National
Park, our Edale cottages are the gateway to all kinds of outdoor
enjoyment.
The small, sleepy vale of Edale sits in the shadow of the Kinder
Scout plateau - the Park's highest point - making it a haven
for hardy walkers. Edale is also located at the southern end of the
Pennine Way, the classic, long-distance route to Scotland. Walkers
generally congregate at the Old Nag's Head, featuring beams,
open fires, cask ales and traditional food - it's been around
since the 16th Century and the Pennine Way starts at the front
door.
For a less strenuous option, or if you're travelling with
children, there are a good number of walks around the valley. Just
make your way to the Moorland Centre for useful information,
interactive displays, talks and guided walks.
Speed down the slopes on mountain bikes. Learn how to rock
climb. Or do something really daring and hang-glide off Mam Tor.
If you plan to book an Edale cottage in June, don't miss the
Edale Country Day, a small country show featuring brass and silver
bands, various farm animals, country dance displays and interesting
craft demonstrations. Other events include Jazz in the Field, Edale
Fell Race and Edale Barrel Race Family Fun Day.
What else? A couple more cosy pubs, café, village shop and
Post Office and a small parish church. Just about everything you
need for a relaxing holiday in this beautiful corner of Britain.
