Just Show Me Glenridding Cottages
This small Cumbrian village sits at the southern end of Ullswater and offers a variety of Glenridding holiday cottages.
Walkers flock here, keen to complete the classic Helvellyn challenge along Striding Edge - England's third highest mountain, the views from the top (950m) are amazing. Less demanding, though no less rewarding, is to follow the lakeside path along Ullswater's shoreline. Or why not combine a walk with a cruise on an elegant Ullswater Steamer? Either board at Glenridding and then walk back from Howtown, or don boots first and sail back in style. Of course walking is optional and you may prefer to simply travel on water, or perhaps join an evening buffet cruise or one of the Santa or spooky specials. And if you fancy getting stuck in, book a lesson at the local sailing school.
To the north of your Glenridding holiday rental is Glencoyne Bay, famous as the spot where Wordsworth found daffodils and penned one of his finest poems. Also close by is the village of Patterdale and St. Patrick's Church, well worth a peek inside and featuring intricate tapestries. Much of the local area is owned by the National Trust - Aira Force is just one example, where you'll see a magnificent waterfall plunge down a steep ravine. Or take a look inside Dalemain, a splendid Georgian residence and private home, open throughout the season and featuring a number of festivals and shows.
Or book your Glenridding cottage holiday over Easter and 'go quackers' at the annual Duck Race, a charity event held by the local mountain rescue team. Please find below self catering holiday cottages near Glenridding, Lake District.
