crescent of sandy beach - two of them, in fact, which merge into
one - perfect for lazy days in the sun, splashing around with the
kids, safe bathing and sailing.
Paddle along the water's edge to the pretty, pastel-painted
village of Porthdinllaen, nestling alongside the sea and owned by
the National Trust. Look out for marine life along the way like
crabs and sea anemones - even seals basking off the rocks on the
far horizon. Then enjoy a beachside lunch at Ty Coch, a renowned
watering hole offering tasty delights in the most idyllic of
settings. Walk off the calories exploring the headland above the
beach, home to the Nefyn Golf Club, boasting 26 holes of incredible
play.
Those with an interest in local history will find evidence of
Iron Age settlements close to the villages - climb Garn Boduan for
remains of a hilltop fort and amazing coastal views. Years ago, the
villages were centres for herring fishing and there's an
interesting exhibition in the Old St. Mary's Church - the
latter a popular stopping place for pilgrims en route to Bardsey
Island.
And whether it's a Nefyn or a Morfa Nefyn cottage you
choose, both these villages cater well for the holidaymaker and
guarantee a truly relaxing escape in this beautiful corner of
Wales.
