Just show me Christchurch Cottages
Two castles, two rivers, six sandy beaches, a fascinating
heritage, exclusive shops, numerous activities, festivals...few
places rival Christchurch's list of attractions and it's no
wonder our Christchurch cottages are so popular.
This beautiful market town dates to Saxon times and oozes
character. It is situated on the banks of a spectacular natural
harbour and is an ideal base to explore rural Dorset, the Jurassic
Coast and the New Forest.
Start your stay with a stroll around Priory Quarter, nestling in
the shadow of the splendid 900-year-old Priory Church. This is also
where you'll find the Red House Museum, ruins of Norman Hall
and Christchurch Castle, as well as stylish shops, restaurants and
riverside walks.
Next stop the harbour and Christchurch Quay, gateway to all
kinds of water sports, boat hire and ferry trips, plus Splash Park.
Place Mill is also here, a wonderful art gallery set in a restored
watermill.
In May, foodies flock to the Food & Wine Festival and
International Food Market, while Christchurch also hosts a
traditional street market on Mondays.
Surrounding the town, discover an unspoilt landscape of open
heath-land, woods and wet and wildflower meadows, where SSSIs and
nature reserves abound. Wildlife spotters, walkers and cyclists
will find hours of enjoyment right on the doorstep of their
Christchurch cottage. There are guided walks too, the coastal path
and a number of long distance trails. And if angling is your
passion, day tickets are available for coarse, sea and game
fishing.
So much to see and do when you book a Christchurch cottage!
