Just Show Me Grassington Cottages
For exhilarating hikes across open fells or gentle riverside
strolls, you can't beat Wharfedale and a Grassington cottage
makes the perfect holiday base. Stride out along the Dales Way and
admire the splendour of Kilnsey Crag, join one of the National
Park's guided walks, or pick up Ian Goldthorpe's '101
things to see on a walk through Grassington'.
If you prefer two wheels, a Grassington cottage also makes
sense, with the Dales Cycle Way on your doorstep, a 130-mile
circular tour of this spectacular region. Savour the atmospheric
charm of Grassington village, its pretty cobbled square lined with
inviting shops selling everything from collectables and gifts to
clothing and food - look out for the monthly farmers' market.
There's also a good choice of pubs, restaurants, cafés and
tearooms to stave off any hunger pangs - and they're nearly all
boot and dog friendly.
Enjoy an entertaining programme of music and performing arts at
the Festival of Music & Arts in June, or plan your Grassington
cottage holiday to coincide with December's Dickensian
Festival, ensuring you pack Victorian costumes to really get into
the spirit of things!
For an insight into times gone by, the Folk Museum features
interesting exhibits of local industries, period costumes and
folklore, while more regional information, both past and present,
is on display at the Grassington National Park Centre.
What else? Fly fishing, a skate park, choral concerts and
mesmerising rock formations at nearby Stump Cross Caverns. Plenty
for the whole family when you book a Grassington cottage!
