Winding its way between the gritstone edges of the Dark Peak and
the limestone crags of the White Peak, the Hope Valley links the
picturesque settlements of Castleton and Hathersage and is the
ideal location for a holiday full of outdoor fun.
Think walking, rock climbing, mountain biking, pony trekking and
more daring adventures like pot-holing and hang-gliding. Or think
of leisurely pastimes like bird-watching, painting or fishing. When

Head underground to a huge honeycomb of caves, spectacularly
adorned with stalagmites, stalactites and semi-precious stone.
Castleton is the main centre, with Blue John Mine, Peak, Speedwell
and Treak Cliff Caverns. Above ground, enjoy 360-degree views as
you climb to the summit of Mam Tor or up to Peveril Castle proudly
looming over the village.
Pick a Hope Valley cottage near Hathersage and trace the steps
of Charlotte Brontë and Keira Knightley at North Lees Hall.
Discover Little John's final resting place in the local
churchyard. Or test your stamina high on the rocks of Stanage Edge.
Not for the faint hearted - the area is training territory for
serious rock climbers - but there are less arduous routes up and
the reward at the top is a feast for the eyes!
