Just show me North Yorkshire Cottages
The exquisite natural beauty of Teesdale. The wildflower meadows
of Swaledale. The secluded valleys of Arkengarthdale. The lush
landscape of Wensleydale. The hidden corners of Coverdale and
Bishopdale. Welcome to a vast slice of paradise and some gorgeous
North Yorkshire Dales cottages.
Wooded glens, cascading waterfalls (don't miss High Force,
Aysgarth Falls and Hardraw Force), remote fells; not to mention
mind-boggling views and an abundance of wildlife, seasoned walkers
will delight with endless routes to choose from. Long distance
routes crisscross the area such as the Pennine Way and Coast to
Coast Path. Cyclists can peddle their way through Swaledale,
Wensleydale and Coverdale along the Yorkshire Dales Cycleway, while
golfing, horse riding and fishing are also popular.
Make food shopping a pleasure at Barnard Castle, Reeth,
Richmond, Hawes, Leyburn or Middleham, bustling with activity come
market day. Picture-postcard villages, recognised for their warm
hospitality, dot the countryside. Explore them on foot and enjoy
their delightfully slow pace, breaking for refreshments at the
local watering hole.
The Dales are proud of their culture and heritage, portrayed in
a number of ways, from breweries and theatre, to folk museums and
magnificent monuments (Raby Castle and Jervaulx Abbey just two
examples). Add treats for the family like The Forbidden Corner, an
extraordinary labyrinth of surprises voted best children's
attraction in Yorkshire - and it's easy to see why so many
people fall under the area's magical spell.
A few nights away or your main annual holiday, a North Yorkshire
Dales cottage is serious food for thought.
