Weardale Cottages

Just Show Me Weardale Cottages

Tucked away in the unspoilt Durham Dales, our Weardale cottages nestle in the stunningly beautiful North Pennines AONB and offer a plethora of things to see and do.

The hunting ground for the Prince Bishops of Durham and later a centre of lead-mining, limestone quarrying and textile production, Weardale is steeped in history and culture. Look out for handmade goods like intricate quilts and knits and don't miss the Dales Centre, the Weardale Folk Museum and Killhope - an award-wining lead-mining museum. Alternatively, hop aboard the heritage railway linking Stanhope and Wolsingham.

Sample sensational local produce and cuisine in the region's many attractive settlements - a great number of pubs and restaurants serve delicious home-cooked meals prepared in the traditional way. And Stanhope's monthly farmers' market is always a good place to stock your Weardale cottage's fridge!

Outdoor fun for everyone when you book a Weardale cottage!

Weardale's ever-changing landscape varies from sweeping moorland to dense forest, encouraging all forms of activities - long-distance rambles and leisurely ambles, adrenalin-pumping mountain biking or family-friendly, traffic-free cycles; riding, fishing, swimming, skiing…they're all here. And, of course, the splendid, unspoilt habitat is home to plentiful wildlife including the black grouse and elusive red squirrel.

Enjoy Weardale's many festivals and events ranging from agricultural shows to the fascinating Northern Rocks Festival, showcasing an array of displays around the geological secrets of the North Pennines AONB and European Geopark.

So whether you wish to escape and relax or plan a holiday jam-packed with activity and adventure, a Weardale cottage ticks every box!
