Just Show Me Wensleydale Cottages
The Romans, James Herriot, Robin Hood - even Wallace & Gromit have all made a lasting impression on this well-loved dale, situated in the northern part of the Yorkshire Dales National Park.
Our Wensleydale cottages come in various sizes and nestle amid breathtaking countryside. Herds of sheep and dry stone walls dot the landscape, as do historic market towns and picturesque villages. Find your bearings at the National Park Centre in Hawes and sample cheese at the Wensleydale Creamery. The bull ring in Askrigg, race horses in Middleham, antiques in Leyburn, the horn blower in Bainbridge…every day brings somewhere new and something special to see, and you'll always receive the warmest hospitality.
There are some impressive waterfalls around and about, most notably Hardraw Force and Aysgarth Falls. And don't miss White Scar Caves. Travelling with children? Discover a labyrinth of surprises at The Forbidden Corner or opt for fast-paced fun and action at the Light Water Valley Theme Park. Heritage sites include Bolton Castle, where Mary Queen of Scots was held prisoner and Middleham Castle, once home of Richard III. Or wander the ruins of Jervaulx Abbey, built by monks in 1156 (whose descendents invented the original recipe for the region's famous cheese, then known as 'Cover Bridge').
Looking for a special keepsake? Wensleydale has them all - novelty teapots, handmade chocolate, fine art and exclusive feline friends from Cat Pottery.
Whether it's a weekend getaway or a full-blown fortnight, our Wensleydale cottages promise a holiday to remember.
