'Northumbria' as a holiday destination - after all, it no
longer exists! In years gone by, it was a British kingdom
stretching from the Humber to Edinburgh and today the county of
Northumberland takes its name from it. Just a handful of local
bodies retain the original name, including the Northumbria Police
and the Northumbria University in Newcastle. Thanks to artistic
licence, we also prefer to use this ancient name when describing
Northumberland as we firmly believe it's a much better way to
describe this wonderfully romantic region.)

Heritage Coast, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Don't
miss the extraordinary walled town of Berwick-upon-Tweed. The

seaside settlements like Craster and Low-Newton-by-the-Sea. The
Holy Island of Lindisfarne. Wildlife watching around the Farne
Islands. Walk the Northumberland Coast Path or St. Oswald's

golden beaches.
