It is clean and modern and really well equipped, even a welcome pack. The location is fantastic, lots of great places to eat and shop. It’s a great place to explore the surrounding area with lots of fantastic walks for the furkids.

The cottage is beautifully furnished and well-equipped (even avoiding teflon saucepans which always get scratched at rental accommodation, so you can't use them). The location is perfect. Thank you very much for a lovely stay!

A lovely cottage in a beautiful location, within walking distance of the town centre.

We had a wonderful week at Bay Tree Cottage. The location is perfect for many beautiful walks; some even start right at the front door. The cottage was charming, clean, and fully equipped. Parking on a first-come, first-served basis was no problem at all. Communication with the property owner before and during our stay was excellent and very pleasant.

Fantastic comfortable accommodation, home from home

Bay Tree cottage is a lovely home from home with all the facilities that you could wish for tastefully presented.

We had good communication with the owners and felt well looked after. The cottage was clean and well maintained with an excellent kitchen and comfy furniture throughout. Our dog loved the early morning and late evening romp on the green just outside the front door as well as chilling in the quiet back yard. The position is fantastic, just a stones throw from the river and a short downhill stroll back from the town centre. We couldn't recommend the property more highly and will be back for our third visit next year.

Very clean, everything you need a home from home. Owners keep you updated, even telling us that we could go in early as the property was ready. The welcome pack was very nice. Would definitely recommend staying and we will be returning next time we visit Richmond.

Lovely cottage in a great setting close to the town centre and the river.

The accommodation is excellent, everything you would wish for in a holiday cottage. The personal touch shone through, Ian texted us to say the cottage was available early, to arriving within 20 minutes of my panicked call when I locked us out and the dog in! Would thoroughly recommend Bay Tree cottage and beautiful Richmond.

A lovely cottage in a great location.

The owner Ian was very helpful and checked a few times that we had everything we needed. The cottage was tastefully decorated and furnished, with no signs of wear and tear and was spotless when we arrived. We particularly enjoyed the log burner, as it was below zero outside for most of our stay! Many thanks for a very enjoyable stay.

We had an excellent winter break in Bay Tree Cottage.

The cottage was warm and comfortable, and Ian our host was most welcoming. The town was interesting and lively, we particularly enjoyed the walks in the area, the Station art centre and cinema and a show at the Georgian Theatre, but also the excellent choice of restaurants and bars. Wish we could have stayed longer.

Fantastic find in Richmond North Yorkshire.

The cottage was immaculate warm and the owner had obviously gone to great length's to ensure everything required for a comfortable stay was in place. Welcome pack was much appreciated. Great walks from the door step plus access to town amenities worked really well for us. The owner was flexible on dates and allowed us to arrive a day early which was a great help. Communication with the owner excellent without being intrusive

Absolutely perfect cottage for a short break between Xmas and New Year.

It really was home from home.All the facilities needed for cooking from home,and a lovely cosy log burner to keep nice and toastie on an evening. Our two dogs loved the river walk two minutes away...honestly couldn't recommend this cottage any higher!!

Lovely cottage, small but perfectly formed!

Fire was a massive positive for a winter break! Location was perfect for winter walks and plenty of amenities on the doorstep. Cottage was very well equipped and a real home from home. I’d be very happy to recommend to friends and family and very happy to return!

We stayed at Baytree cottage in November, apologies for the late review.

As soon as we stepped through the door we felt at home, the cottage is beautifully decorated and has everything you need for a comfortable stay. The owner left a nice welcome pack which was very kind and they couldn’t be more helpful dropping off extra logs for the fire when it was snowing for us to keep warm. The cottage has lovely unique features, a log fireplace, crooked stairs and swirly window handles. There are wonderful walks right on the doorstep and set in the dales there’s lots of places to explore nearby. The market town has plenty of shops, bakeries and pubs. We have family near to Richmond so even though we have visited many times it always holds a special place in our hearts and we love to return each time. We can’t recommend this cottage enough, it was perfect for our trip to Richmond. Thank you for a wonderful stay.

Lovely cottage close to all of Richmonds attractions.

Comfortable,warm and clean. Log Burner was a treat on chilly nights. Walks from the door and even though there was no allocated parking spot we never had a problem to park just outside. The owners were very helpful and communication was great. We hope to come again sometime.

Great cottage, in a good location.

We arrived and unloaded our cars. There were no spaces around the Green, so parked in the Yorke square car park about 100m away. Not a problem. We managed to find spaces outside the property, the following morning, so a saving on parking costs for tge rest if the week. Communication from our hosts were excellent and nothing was a problem. The cottage was very clean and well equipped. Especially loved the log burner (so did our Italian Greyhound), with plent if fuel, lighters and matches provided. It took a bit of juggling with the thermostat to get upstairs and downstairs comfortable, but wasn't a problem. The stairs need some care, when going up and down. Quite narrow, steep and slightly spiralling. Good fridge and kitchen, but if you need ice cubes for drinks, a visit to the outside bin/ recycling/ freezer storage area in the back yard m was required... Only a minor inconvenience. Plenty of hot water and comfortable beds .. The living/ dining/ kitchen area was very well layed out and felt spacious and comfortable. Going up into Richmond Market place was quite a steep/ hilly climb, there were some lovely riverside walks nearby...Great if you have dogs...but they ard not obligatory. All in all, a very nice property...You have been warned!!

My husband and I stayed here for 4 nights with my 16 year old daughter.

The house was spotlessly clean and fresh, lovely and airy. Richmond is also a lovely town and plenty of nice walks. Would definitely recommend.

Very well maintained with a high level of attention to detail and quality fixtures and fittings. Beautiful bath towels with all the extras you would expect. Excellent level of communication and a well received welcome hamper. Perfect for daily (10,000+ steps) walks . Highly recommended. 5*

We first noticed this cottage whilst at Richmond for the day, and when we saw the reviews we decided to book.

We have not been disappointed. Excellent communication. First class holiday cottage, well equipped for self catering. Excellent walks from the doorstep, and great base for Swaledale and the surrounding area. Will recommend.

This was our 3rd visit to the cottage and we could not fault it, or the recommendations from the owners on places to visit.

Bay Tree Cottage was a perfect place to stay whilst we explored the Yorkshire Dales and beyond.

The cottage was clean and comfortable and included everything we needed for a great holiday.

There is nothing not to like about this lovely cottage.

Communication with owners was excellent : response times, clarity, friendliness = perfect. Cottage itself is beautiful and completely refurbished. Quality furniture and fittings that, whilst modern, gave the true feeling of being in an old cottage. All the beautiful solid wooden latched door are an example of that. The sheltered courtyard for sitting out is a bonus. Location at foot of historical Richmond is perfect and although uphill, is only a few minutes away. Super welcome pack too! And lots of well documented information on the property and the area with lovely places to visit. We drove from south of France to Scotland and back to France, and of all the places we stayed this was the best by a country mile ;-) Thank you, Ian & Karen, and we hope to stay again on our next trip north.

A superb cottage in great location in Richmond.

Bay Tree Cottage is lovely - spacious, well-appointed, spotless, well-decorated and very comfortable, with excellent beds, shower and bath. It is very dog-friendly, with dog towels, blankets and bowls, an enclosed yard at the back, and a green at the front. It is right by one of Richmond's bridges, so the beautiful River Swale is a minute's walk away, and there are easy and more hilly walks up and down stream, through stunning woods. We had plans to walk further up Swaledale, but spent the week on wonderful riverside walks from the cottage - no need for the car! Ian was an excellent host, very friendly and welcoming and proactive, so we felt well looked after and very well informed - he was spot on with his recommendations for shops and places to eat and visit. Richmond is a delightful town, with plenty of pubs and cafes which welcome dogs, and some good bakeries and delis. Altogether, we enjoyed staying in the cottage and will be back. Highly recommended.

The cottage was perfect for a relaxing short break.

It is spotless, the bed was really comfy, lovely fluffy towels and a good shower with plenty of hot water. The courtyard is a sun trap and safe to let our dog potter about. We cooked a few nights and had everything we needed. Richmond has plenty of lovely coffee shops and we found a good little circular walk. We loved it and hope to return

The problem we had was the steepness of the roads to go into Richmond town which we were not aware of. Coming from the flat county of East Yorkshire we really felt it. We are both getting on a bit so we didn't walk there as often as we would have liked

Supper cottage for a stay in Richmond.

It ticked all the boxes for us. Great location down by the river ( great for dog walking ) and parking not a problem. Would definitely recommend it.

It was impeccably well-equipped, providing everything we could possibly need for a comfortable and relaxing week. The furnishings were modern and inviting, making it a true home from home. One of the standout features was the Sky Sports TV—perfect for unwinding after a day in the hills. The bedrooms were spacious and well-appointed, and the bathroom was modern and clean. The location couldn’t have been better, just a short walk to local shops and pubs offering great and convenient food. Communication with the owners was outstanding—they were friendly and made sure every detail of our stay was perfect. We couldn’t have asked for a better experience and will definitely be returning in the future. Highly recommend this excellent cottage.

Lovely cottage in a great location.

Comfortable and well equipped, the lovely towels deserve a special mention. Very pet friendly. Just a short walk up to the centre of Richmond which is a picturesque market town even in mid winter. Loads of other places to see and visit in the locality so the weather wasn’t an issue. Parking close to the cottage wasnt an issue on some days.

Bay Tree Cottage was lovely; spotlessly clean, well-equipped, beautiful master bedroom, a hot shower, and lots of little touches throughout which made it perfect for that winter getaway (our 6th trip to Richmond in the last 8-years).

Ian was a great host too and contacted us before our break to offer us a complimentary bottle of wine - especially nice given we rarely drink alcohol, so went with sparking elderflower instead. It's the little details like this which make a holiday even more enjoyable. The availability of SkySports was the icing on the cake, as we are all BIG fans of Football Dartsmas!

The best place for a relaxing break but close to lots of things if you want to explore, just perfect location. The Green is so peaceful and picturesque, 1 minute walk to the amazing River, fabulous walks for the dog on ur doorstep. Richmond Castle, the town, nice shops and pubs 5 mins walk, everything you need. The cottage was so lovely and comforting, everything was top quality and the hosts so helpful and accommodating. I knew this was the perfect place for us and it was! Thank you

Had a lovely week in the perfect Bay Tree Cottage.

Set in a pretty and historic location , very close to the river Swale and below the beautiful Richmond castle. The lively and interesting town was a short walk away but the area around the cottage was tranquil. The cottage was warm , welcoming and stylish with everything you need for a self catering break away from it all. The beds were comfortable and we slept really well. We walked from the cottage with the Swale as a guide in both directions and had a daily visit to the falls . Richmond itself is a delight with a sense of time standing still in the very best ways. Brilliant places to eat , lovely shops and we found the local people to be very friendly. The cottage provided a great base for trips further afield and Barnard Castle and High Force are a must to visit as well as the beautiful Middleham with its horse racing stables and country pubs. Some holiday cottages have that bit more and feel like a retreat from the 9-5 and Bay Tree definitely had that vibe. The hosts were super helpful and friendly and very generous in providing extras to make the holiday. They are surely very proud of Bay Tree Cottage ,we did not want to leave .

We found the cottage location to be perfect for us, just around the corner from the beautiful River Swale and its walks, and a (steepish) five minute walk into the town's market place.

It is furnished in a lovely minimalist style, is clean and very comfortable with everything we needed when self-catering. We appreciated the helpful communication from the owners and the thoughtful complimentary wine, milk, biscuits etc. Highlights were seeing the river in spate after some seasonal rain and enjoying the varied fare on offer in the town. We would recommend.

A brilliant cottage in the heart of Richmond.

It has everything that is required for a relaxing week, from kitchen appliances & utensils. A lovely touch along with the tea & coffee was excellent biscuits & an enjoyable bottle of wine. The Sky Glass TV & decent quality wifi was really good. The cottage is spotlessly clean & plenty of towels and bedding good quality, although a parking slot not guaranteed we got spot directly outside the cottage. We had a great holiday in Richmond & would definitely highly recommend Bay Tree Cottage.

Perfect location and beautifully decorated throughout. Plenty of room for the 2 of us and our dachshund, Frank. Comfortable bed, good bathroom and kitchen facilities. Close to the market square and castle. We'll certainly be back.

The cottage is located in a quiet area but within a stone’s throw of the town and there are walks from the door, which is great for me as a hiker. It is a really nice area to explore and the cottage is ideally situated for the Dales and North Yorkshire. There was very positive and helpful communication from the owners and they left a lovely welcome pack for me. The cottage has a nice feel to it and I enjoyed staying there.

One the best cottages we have stayed in.

Everything is 100%. There are lots of visitor attractions nearby and the town has ample cafes, hotels and places to eat.

The cottage was finished to a high standard including all the furnishings and crockery.

The Bay Tree cottage at Richmond is beautifully presented and has everything you need for a relaxing comfortable break from the stresses of daily life.

A lovely outside area which was a great sun trap and spacious downstairs area. Will be great to return in the cooler months to relax in front of the log burner. Great master bedroom again very spacious. Very close to beautiful walks along the River Swale. Close to shops, eateries and bars and has lots to see with the castle ruins and Richmond Falls. Ian and Karen excellent in communicating, a lovely message full of info before we arrived and a follow up messsge on arrival to check all was ok. Highly recommend this lovely little cottage and great that we could take our dog who was welcomed all over Richmond. Many thanks Ian & Karen we will be back. Jason, Julie & Bear. X

One of the best properties we have stayed in!

A beautifully refurbished cottage in a perfect location, it has everything you need for a wonderful stay, exceptionally clean. We left this morning (05.08.24) and I have already booked our next visit.

Without any doubt this is the best property we have stayed in!

The facilities, accommodation, location, cleanliness, beds, bedding etc etc were all that you could want. The only minor problem was that there weren't any egg cups, grandson likes a dippy egg for breakfast. The next door neighbours came to the rescue. However, Ian has took it on board to rectify this. Only other issue is that by giving the praise it deserves it will make harder to book in the future

The hosts Ian & Karen were very helpful and made sure that if you needed anything else to make our stay any better they were there to help (nothing to much trouble) Tea,coffee,sugar,milk & biscuits a lovely touch as the 1st thing needed after along journey is a cup of tea. Richmond is a lovely town with lots of local businesses from grocers,butchers,bakers and lots of cafes & takeaways, restaurants for that relaxing cup of coffee or evening meal all within a 5 minute walk for bay tree cottage.

Everything about this property was fabulous.

Clean and modern with all necessary equipment provided. The beds were extremely comfortable. The owners are extremely helpful, contacting us before our stay, helping out during our stay, and ensuring that everything was satisfactory. As an older couple having someone so friendly, on hand to help with technical issues was reassuring and we would definitely return. The location of the cottage is superb, with plenty of walks straight from the front door. All amenities close by too. Beautiful area to explore.

Gorgeous cottage in the most perfect of locations.

Right near the centre of Richmond, which is a lovely market town with Castle but with beautiful walks right from the door. You could easily spend time here without a car. The cottage has been carefully renovated and is appointed with high quality furnishings. The underfloor heating and Woodburn would make it so cosy in the winter. In the summer it has access to a lovely little courtyard garden. It is dog friendly and the owners have thought of everything you need to keep your dog happy and have installed a soft stair gate to keep them downstairs which is so helpful. We stayed with our two children and it was a great size for us as a family. Would also suit two couples for a walking weekend. I can't recommend this cottage highly enough. The owners were so friendly, warm and welcoming and provided a lovely welcome pack. We hope to return. Thank you for the perfect stay. X

Very comfortable & well appointed cottage in a great location.

The welcome pack was great. Ian texted to see what wine we would like, as we are not wine drinkers he provided some soft drinks which were very much appreciated, and our Cocker Spaniel Willow enjoyed her treats. We loved the walk along the river to the falls.

Many local walks that satisfied ourselves and our Lab Retriever. Plenty of food provisions around the market square and would recommend The Station for light bites and coffee that is also dog friendly. Easy access to the Dales, liked Bedale and Reeth.

A thoroughly enjoyable stay at Bay Tree Cottage.

Karen and Ian's very well appointed cottage, with lovely touches and comfortable sofas and beds, was a pleasure to stay in. We had everything we needed. Welcome pack including wine a lovely touch. Despite a rather wet few days we never even used our car, the walk into town is good for the leg muscles but not overly strenuous. Great walks along the River Swale in both directions, we all loved Hudswell Woods, especially our dog Gem, she also made it to the top of the Castle Tower - great views. Loved exploring all the little hidden streets with their quirky houses. Richmond is a very dog friendly town, almost every shop and pub have dog treats behind the counter and water bowls outside. It was great to come back to such cosy accommodation after a day out. We've stayed in places that haven't felt particularly welcoming, Bay Tree Cottage has a really nice vibe. Highly recommend.

We can’t recommend Bay tree cottage highly enough!

Having stayed in Richmond before, in a lovely cottage that didn’t have vehicular access, I was particularly looking for one that had parking available with no time limit. Bay tree cottage fitted the bill, free parking was available for two vehicles around the Green on a first come first served basis. There is also a car park just at the end of the Green, but we didn’t need to use it. The cottage itself is very well appointed, and had everything we needed and more! It was lovely and clean and had comfortable beds. The furnishings were high quality and in good condition, and the cottage was lovely and warm. Wood and kindling were left for the wood burner, I used it twice in the evenings, and found it to be very easy to light and quick to get hot. We had vehicle problems on our journey to the cottage, Ian was very helpful and recommended his usual garage to us for repair. We have never before had such attentive hosts, we were asked before our arrival, which wine we preferred for our complimentary welcome pack. And received a text en route, to notify us the cottage was ready for us ahead of the 3pm arrival time. Ian also text once we had settled in to ask if there were any problems (there weren’t) and said to let him know if we had any issues with the cottage. Thank you Ian and Karen, for your attention to detail, pride in your cottage, and for going above and beyond any other hosts we have ever had! Best wishes Angie and Warren

River walks and facilities all within walking distance, and the cottage was spotlessly clean and nicely furnished. Had a great week and would recommend this cottage to anyone.

Lovely cottage in a great location.

Communication had been good beforehand so we were fully informed of key arrangements etc. Everything was spotless when we arrived and lots of things which we had packed were provided. Owners had thought of everything including dog bowls and treats. The welcome pack was much appreciated and the owner even texted beforehand to ask our preferred wine which was a nice touch. All in all a very pleasant stay.

A very cosy cottage, warm and with a welcome bottle or red, plus tea, coffee + biscs and a beautifully decorated Christmas tree.

The cottage is in a lovely situation overlooking the Green and a very short walk to the town (uphill) and to the river and riverside walks (on the flat). Parking is on the lane/road around the Green and was very busy but we did always find a space. We were 2 friends staying, one had a very spacious double bedroom, the other a much smaller one, both comfortable. Super shower over bath and plenty of hot water. Well equipped kitchen. We enjoyed our stay and Richmond is one of the loveliest towns in north Yorkshire.

We loved this cottage and it has become our favourite place to stay in Richmond, we will be back.

It was very clean and comfortable and had everything you would need, the welcome pack was a lovely touch. The owner messaged to check we were ok and dealt with any queries straight away, thank you that was so nice.

Property is fault less , ideally situated for walking and exploring the surrounding area and its close to the town centre which has a variety of pubs / restuarants.

Lovely just absolutely lovely, the cottage was fantastic and Richmond is a great town to visit.

Walk along the river to the Falls and Batts and enjoy the tranquil views than walk into town and grab some lunch at one of the many Pubs or cafes with great food in all we ate at. Enjoy the market on a Saturday with lots of stalls selling great produce, then back on Sunday for the Artisan Market and enjoy a Sunday lunch in the Town hall Pub (great food). The hosts of Bay Tree were great to with a couple of Texts in the week to make sure all was OK and if you needed anything. Wood for the log burner was also provided which we lit and enjoyed the warn glow of the fire. Just go yourself and enjoy a great place to stay in a lovely doggie friendly town. Mark
