It's a delightful place to discover - the magical ruins of Corfe Castle at its centre, a good handful of picturesque villages and traditional seaside resorts, not to mention gorgeous stretches of beach like Studland Bay.
If it's good enough for Blyton's 'Famous Five', it's good enough for the rest of us, with plenty on offer for the whole family. Think buckets and spades on Swanage's Blue Flag beach. Or pedal the 'Purbeck Ride' following a 47-mile route around the region - that's less than seven miles a day if you book a holiday home in Purbeck for a week. Or opt for the much shorter Sika Cycle Trail in Wareham Forest. And, as you're on a peninsula, expect water sports galore!
