Just Show Me Sennen Cove Cottages
Escape to England's big toe and book a Sennen holiday cottage, a stone's throw from Land's End.
Sennen is home to Whitesand Bay, a sweeping, Blue Flag beach with dazzling sands and sensational surf. On a hot summer's day, it could be mistaken for somewhere more exotic, hence its appropriate name describing the sun-bleached sands. A mile long in length, it's also a great place for a walk while low tide reveals lots of rock pools for budding beachcombers. Further north, Gwenver Beach is another fantastic spot to catch a wave or walk your dog.
Back at Sennen Cove, the small fishing village and harbour oozes charm and along the seafront you'll find a small selection of cafés, restaurants, pubs, shops and galleries, as well as a lifeboat station, open to visitors.
If not the surfing, you've probably booked a Sennen cottage for its close proximity to that famous landmark, where you can have your picture taken next to a signpost marked with the distance to your home town. The mile-long coastal walk from Sennen Cove to Land's End attracts huge crowds to this otherwise remote region. The path includes a short, steep climb up Pedn-men-du, from where you'll get some splendid views, and also passes by the ruins of Maen Castle and an old lookout station, both in the hands of the National Trust. Sykes has a great range of self catering holiday cottages in Sennen and they're all perfectly located to take advantage of everything Sennen has to offer.
At the end of the walk, watch soaring sea spray lash against rocks as you gaze out to the Scilly Islands and then savour hearty pub grub at the First and Last Inn. Excess calories will soon disappear as you walk back to your holiday home in Sennen!
