  • "A warm very well equipped comfortable cottage in stunning surroundings with amazing hill walks from the doorstep."

The enclosed garden is private and ideal if you have a dog. The half mile drive to the cottage is narrow and uneven. The local pub is welcoming and provides good reasonably priced food. The wood fired hot tub was a bonus but difficult to light in periods of wet weather. Takes several hours to heat the water. A thoroughly relaxed and enjoyable stay.

Our main problem with the cottage was the lack of light. This could be improved by better lighting; lighter decor and cutting back some of the overgrown garden. Everything else was fine, the cottage is well equipped and comfortable. The pub in the village is great - very friendly staff (the dog even got a treat) and the food is excellent value.

Thie wilderness cottage was warm , the local pub and shop looked after all your needs, the staff very friendly. The only minus points was you must have a powerful torch when you get out the car, it's only a short distance but you can't see a thing when your going down the steps , some lights needed here. The local pub does great food at very reasonable prices and is only a 10-15 min walk away. Only thing to hi-light is the access to this property. The cottage was immaculately clean and the owner was great when we contacted and super helpful . The dogs loved the gardens . We would definitely stay here again as it’s quiet , close to so many walks and has stunning views. It was incredibly clean and tidy, beds are really.comfy, kitchen is really well equipped with everything you need and more and the surroundings are stunning. The cottage is right at the top of the road and if you come to a log cabin you have gone too far..its the house before that and the name of the cottage is actually in the wall. Yes the gravel path is long but just drive carefully and slowly and you should be fine. Only slight downside was that the hot tub got nasty grime marks around the outside after Only 2 uses and we all showered before we got in, so not sure what happened there but we didn't want to use it after that and was a bit gutted. The jacuzzi bath and shower are lovely and also the log burner was a lovely treat. All in all a wonderful time was had by all and we were sad to leave.

The cottage itself was great with everything we needed. The hot tub was brilliant as well. The area is gorgeous and we enjoyed exploring around as well. • "Its is certainly not an easy road to negotiate to get to the cottage, and how people claim it is an 'easy' walk to the pub not sure why they are trying to kid."

The lane is nothing more than a very steep dirt track so narrow you cannot open the car doors and you risk damaging your car every time you make the journey. The cottage itself is vey difficult to find neither it or the five bar gate you are told to find are visible from the road, and the cottage does not have a name or number on it. Because of the difficult journey to and from the cottage we felt almost like prisoners - we went out in the morning and returned later - we daren't risk the journey any more times. The cottage was quite dark - even with lights on - and the stairs were steep, narrow, slippery, twisted at the bottom and were further complicated by having helmets & lamps hung along the wall, which made holding on difficult. There was very little information in the cottage and we could not find the NHS QR scan. On the plus side the cottage was clean and there was a secure yard for the dogs.

One thing to be aware of is the cottage is located near the end of a reasonably long track. The place is beautifully finished, and has kept its lovely authentic feel. The dog-friendly pub is a mile down the end of lane from the cottage, so a nice easy walk and there is a little shop attached that is like an Aladdins cave. All the locals were really friendly and welcoming. The rear yard where the hot tub is, is fully enclosed so our dogs could be out with us whilst we bathed, and it was very private and not overlooked. I would highly recommend taking wood with you, the shop has it for a good price but they did run out over the weekend. We found some fab walks right from the doorstep , meaning you can stop in the pub for a few drinks after and warm on their lovely fire. The hot tub is fantastic after a day walking, it did take us about 24 hours to get up to temp as it was pretty cold outside, we then just lit the fire in the morning and found it to be the right temperature in the evening. It's position at the end of a track means no traffic sounds at all and at night the stars are fantastic with no light pollution. Being where it is the water pressure is not great (for a shower) and the wi-fi strength is not good but you should expect that when booking a remote cottage and these things are insignificant compared to the quality of the cottage. The only drawback is the metalled track to reach the cottage was quite a struggle for a small car with four adults and their luggage so I would not recommend booking if you have a lotus. This small Shropshire village boasts a shop and charming inn and is a perfect starting point for many scenic trails, with the summit of the famous Stiperstones Hill, a 1.5 mile walk, and the East Ridge Wood mountain bike trails very close by. This area is a designated National Nature Reserve, a SSSI and an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and is consequently a favourite place for outdoor and wildlife enthusiasts. The Stiperstones Hill range is dominated by dramatic quartzite tors, which tower above an unspoilt heathland, the most famous is the Devil’s Chair, whilst Manstone Rock is the highest point at 536m above sea level and offers stunning views on a clear day. A short drive away is one of England's finest heritage towns with over 600 listed buildings; Shrewsbury nestles on a loop of the River Severn. Shrewsbury has a magnificent abbey as well as Shrewsbury Castle, which stands in beautiful gardens and is home to the Shropshire Regimental Museum. There's plenty of interesting things to do in the area, with Attingham Park, Wroxeter Roman City, the museums at Ironbridge, and the castle and Michelin-starred restaurants of Ludlow, all making this hillside village the perfect touring spot for your Shropshire adventure.

In severe weather conditions, the hot tub may not be useable, as it is log-fired, not electric.
