  • "Very spacious property, so quiet, loved the underfloor heating in the bathrooms."

And the view was amazing obviously. We were there for a Christmas break and so pleased at how well the kitchen was stocked with utensils and glasses we needed to entertain, plus a lovely surprise of a Christmas tree, thank you. Defo recommend and book again.

Perfect position for just relaxing at the window, always something to watch from the riverside, be it with a coffee, a glass of wine, a book or a crossword! An easy walk into town and a good bus service from there. We no longer drive the distance from Essex & use the excellent GWR train service & arrange a local taxi from Totnes to Dartmouth! Can’t wait to come back next year!

  • "We’ve stayed at Dart Marina five times and at flat 22 three times."

The view from this second floor flat across the marina and along the river is spectacular, with a huge bi-hold bay window and two comfortable seats, just right for two people to watch the world go by. The flat is very nice, but too neglected to be described as luxurious. It’s not one big thing but many small ones; the wooden floor is badly marked and coming apart in the kitchen, the paintwork is cracked and marked, the bay window seals are damaged, the main bedroom curtains are faded, the bathroom sink splashbacks are stained, the main bathroom towel rail is loose, the duvet hangs out of the bottom of its cover, the DVD player and radio once in the lounge have not been replaced. It’s worth mentioning that the Dart Marina Hotel is no longer open to non-residents, so no lunches, drinks, or swimming. You can still use the Cloud Nine pop-up van when it is operating, for drinks and sandwiches on the river side of the car park.

  • "Fabulous property."

Fantastic opening bay window with views over the River Dart. Well maintained, spotlessly clean and well equipped. Just one slight moan was the sofa, which was very uncomfortable after about 10 minutes. There was also a problem with the parking space no 57, too many large cars either side and not enough room to open your door to get out, so we resorted to parking in the visitor spaces. Good job they were there. However we had a fabulous holiday in this lovely apartment.

As always, thoroughly enjoyed the time at Dart Marina apartments but think it's fair to say the unit we had (No 22) was in need of some maintenance - the AV equipment didn't work (not a biggie, but did wish to use it one evening) and the kitchen window obviously requires some repair work - hasn't stopped us from booking for next year

  • "Our 2nd stay at 22 & we love it!"

! Views, cleanliness, position! We agree with comments of previous guests that furniture lacks comfort for 4 seniors, turn-taking for window view armchairs where all cushions shed many feathers! Would benefit from more breakfast bowls. Towel rails dangerously hot plus the bath should have a grab rail to prevent slipping when stepping out of bath - an accident waiting to happen for older people! Opening/closing of lovely big lounge windows not easy & needs some renovation. Having made all these comments, I would have stayed longer if we could & may be back another time!!!!!

  • "After our second visit to 22 Dart Marine we will not be returning."

The situation of the property is ideal but the need for a refresh is evident. It is clean and the linen well laundered. The kitchen appliances work OK but are difficult to get to grips with in a few days due to their complexity. The microwave is simple but the marker on the nobs is virtually invisible and setting a time is guesswork. There are gaps in the inventory of crockery. Overall there is enough but too few cereal bowls for instance. The biggest bugbear is the incredibly uncomfortable furniture in the lounge. It is built for style but very difficult to sit in comfortably for any length of time no matter how the cushions are arranged. We noticed that the rubber gaskets on the window frames remain badly in need of replacement although, fortunately, there are no draughts as yet. It's a shame that we cannot give a glowing report on this property but feel it needs to be given a facelift and some of the older items replaced with a view to comfort.

  • "Overall a lovely well maintaned property in an ideal location with stunning views of the River Dart."

The apartment is showing signs of ageing around the windows, ie rubber seals around the windows have gone brittle along with the windowcill cracked and letting in draught.

  • "Property is absolutely fantastic."

Only problem during the stay was the heating which we struggled to get working. It was really cold when we checked in and there were no instructions that I could find in the property. Following a second call out later in the week, the engineer advised there had been a previous fault with the heating which had been fixed. Given the office is more or less closed , other than emergencies from 5.30pm, and we are only allowed to get keys from 4pm onwards, I would have thought that the heating should be checked as working , particularly on a February booking and where there is no other heating source and considering previous faults. That said, it was all dealt with quickly and professionally but I did have a 81 year mother with me whom I was concerned about getting very cold. Everything else was spot on, we’d definitely stay again. Just a couple of updates required in the instruction booklets in the property which request keys are returned to the Coast and Country office in the Sail loft, so was a bit confusing.

  • "22 Dart Marina is showing signs of neglect."

The boiler pressure required topping up twice-daily. It failed completely after 5 days, so we had to leave. There are many defective window seals. The gaps are stuffed with tissues, cotton wool and sellotape. The bathrooms are infested with silverfish which appear at night. There is a table lamp on the desk which has a scribbled note stating it is unserviceable. The table mats are stained and chipped. The chopping boards need replacing. It appears that nobody is inspecting this property, yet Coast & Country is still claiming it is luxury accommodation. I am unable to believe any of their other property descriptions.

The listing did not include an iron at the property so we brought our own only to find that there was an iron there. - not the end of the world but annoying to have to bring something bulky when we didn't need to. There was a lot of confusion having to deal with Sykes cottages in Chester when we wanted to know specific things relating to Dartmouth, on one call we were not allowed to talk to Dartmouth direct and the call handler in Chester said she would ring you to get the information and then relay this to us!

  • "My wife and I had a relaxing and enjoyable week at 22 Dart Marina."

We were impressed by the facilities and the wonderful outlook over the river. However, due to our age, we found the furniture a little uncomfortable. I guess it is designed principally for it's appearance and meets that aim perfectly but it does not lend itself to accommodate older bones. There was an excess of feathers everywhere from the hard pillows in the bedrooms and the cushions in the lounge. The inventory listed some items which were not available (only 3 small dishes). No doubt due to Covid restrictions, the hotel spa was not available or access to the restaurant for dinner. This will not deter us from considering another visit however, and we will keep Dart Marina in view when thinking of our next trip away.

  • "We stayed at 22 Dart Marina last year and had a very peaceful holiday, hence booking again this year."

Several weeks before our holiday was due I saw a review about scaffolding and was concerned. I sent an email asking the question if scaffolding would be up during our holiday as if it was I would cancel. I suffer from anxiety and this holiday was to help with that. The reply was there shouldn’t be any. I again asked as Contractors and scaffolding have to be booked in advance so they should have an idea. They said there may be scaffolding but if there was they would notify us in advance. We arrived early at the apartment and saw scaffolding on the side of the building but obviously couldn’t see to the front. When we got the keys and went in we were horrified. Scaffolding was at the side of the bay window restricting part of the view into Dartmouth and was very unsightly. We picked this apartment as there are two swivel chairs in the window for you to sit and admire the view. The scaffolding was literally 6 inches from the window. I telephoned the office and was told ‘but it only restricted part of the view’ which was not helpful. On the Monday morning as we were sat having our breakfast 3 workmen arrived and came on to the scaffolding through the hatch next to the window. They couldn’t help but look through the window at us. They made several trips up and down the ladder with equipment. I rang the number provided and got through to the Chester office (Sykes holidays) I was very upset about the attitude of the phone call. The lady said they had told us there may be scaffolding and what am I wanting. I told her they had only answered my question and they definitely didn’t fulfil their promise in letting us know beforehand. They said they only had a day’s notice. My sister went to speak to the workmen and they said the scaffolding had been up a week and they had been booked in for the job. In the end I was so upset and stressed my husband took the call. He had the same response and asked why they hadn’t told us there WAS scaffolding not there may be. In the end he came off the phone not getting anywhere. I immediately sent an email with photos to which I am still waiting for a reply. Looking at the 1 star reviews I won’t be getting a reply. Also sent to Coast and Country. I received an acknowledgement stating terms and conditions of booking. On re-reading the terms and conditions I noted it says they are not responsible for any noise or building work on neighbouring properties. The work is being carried out on the property not on a neighbours. We stayed out all day hoping the workmen had gone when we got back and they hadn’t. During the week we were having to get up early and dressed before they arrived at 9.00 a.m. and stay out all day. Not conducive of the relaxing holiday we were hoping for. I have sent numerous emails and not received any feedback yet. By Thursday we had had enough and came home a day early. We handed the keys in at the Dartmouth office early afternoon and briefly told the lady. She looked on the computer at our account. She said she wasn’t aware as she had been working from home last week. We came home Thursday and on Friday morning my husband received a call at about 10.50 asking when we were going to hand the keys in. Obviously this didn’t go down well as we had not received one call during our stay about our complaint. I did write a letter to the owner and left it with her post in the apartment. Hopefully we will get a reply from this. There was an entry in the Visitors Book saying they were an infirm couple who booked it for the view and the holiday was ruined by the scaffolding in June/July. The website states that external decoration is being carried out on the Dart Marina complex from April to August 2021 which incidentally is right at the bottom of the page and obviously inaccurate. As I write this I am still awaiting a response.

We should have been given a number to telephone the old coast and country office who were always more than helpful in the past. You sent an email telling us that there was to be scaffolding around the property which never materialised. It took two long phone calls to get an email saying we would be entitled to compensation should there be scaffolding. In the past coast and country would have telephoned us and the matter would have been resolved instantly. It is a great shame that you have swallowed up a local business and not kept a human touch.

Apart from that no complaints it was all lovely and when we popped into the office to say a couple of lamps were gone they were replaced the same day within a couple of hours, so excellent. Kind regards Tony Hampton

Thank you for taking the time to leave feedback, it is very much appreciated. Great location and Dartmouth our favourite town in the area. Very clean and tidy and well stocked for our one week stay. Weather was great and apartment was always hot so good to be able to open the bi-folds and sit in the bay window watching the steam trains, ferry and boats on the Dart. Only quibble was that some of the tech could have been better e.g. it doesn’t have Sky TV despite the listing saying to the contrary, and couldn’t seem to get bluetooth to work (old type dock).
