The Coach House, Northumberland

This elegant country retreat is located within 30 acres of mature woodland grounds belonging to 17th century mansion, Middleton Hall. The Coach House is a five-star rated property which sleeps up to 10 guests. The sleek, white kitchen is spacious so there’s plenty of room to make Christmas dinner and there’s even a dishwasher- a god-send after Christmas Day! The dining room can seat all 10 guests comfortably and the sitting room with its cosy woodburner is perfect for spending time together as a family. When the younger members of the party get restless, there’s also a games room with table football to enjoy, as well as plenty of board games to get stuck into. Walk off dinner with a stroll around the beautiful grounds and boating lakes- the area within the grounds provides numerous walks for people of all abilities- or head for the hills for a brisk walk amongst the Cheviots.

Set on the edge of a pretty village green in the heart of the Three Peaks District, this charming cottage dates back to 1620. The property is steeped in history and character with features such as beams, a beautiful stone fireplace, exposed stone walls and stone-flagged floor. Curl up in front of the fireplace with a glass of mulled wine, cook up a delicious dinner in the kitchen and spend some quality time with your loved one this Christmas. The circular Ingleton Waterfalls Trail is close by, as are White Scar Caves and Ruskin’s View, so there’s plenty of spectacular scenery and walking routes to discover.

The Yellow House, Cornwall

The huge comfy sofas are ideal for sinking into after a big meal and the dining area can seat all eight comfortably around the table for Christmas dinner. There are four bedrooms and plenty of space for the whole family to spread out and relax. Christmas in Cornwall is a unique experience- think wrapping up warm for a bracing walk along the beach, writing Merry Christmas in the sand, floating Christmas lights on Padstow harbour, ice skating at the Eden Project and prepare yourself for the annual coastal tradition of the Christmas Day swim!

A luxury detached cottage in the historic village of Husthwaite, Sleepy Willows is nestled below the White Horse of Kilburn. Inside is modern and cosy with a feature gas stove and plush sofas. This cottage is perfect for those families that go all out cooking Christmas dinner- with three electric ovens, a five ring gas hob, kitchen island and huge American fridge-freezer, even the fussiest cook would find it hard to run out of space. After dinner, the cottage has its own selection of jigsaws, board games and DVDs to keep you entertained. There are several circular walks from the village available including to Easingwold and Coxwold via Beacon Banks or head to the Howardian Hills AONB which has a dense network of footpaths to explore. Beautiful York is also just a short drive away where you can take part in Christmas festivities such as Winter Wonderland, home to the North’s largest outdoor ice rink, a 30ft Christmas tree and alpine-themed chalet serving drinks.

The Stable, Ceredigion

A pet friendly barn conversion on a 130 acre organic farm amongst idyllic Welsh countryside. The Stable sleeps up to four guests with a spacious open plan living area and two cosy bedrooms. Children in particular will love it here as there’s a large shared lawn and a children’s play area, plus a games room with a log fire, pool table, table tennis and games console, allowing you to join in all the fun with the other guests and make new friends. Guests can also enjoy fresh eggs and homegrown vegetables from the farm as well as spotting the resident chickens and sheep. There are National Trust footpaths and woodland walks on your doorstep and the Welsh coastline with its spectacular beaches (many of which are dog friendly) are also within easy access.

The property is accessed through electric gates with keypad control for total privacy and benefits from state of the art technology including a sound system that covers the whole house and decking. It’s set over two floors with a mezzanine level overlooking the living area, finished off with a magnificent beamed cathedral ceiling. There are floor to ceiling windows in the living area to make the most of the countryside views and other facilities include a six person barrel sauna and large hot tub.
