simple holiday pleasures\" width=\"940\" height=\"290\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-47650\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Ice Cream made the top 10 of the most popular enjoyments on a UK holiday<\/p><\/div>\n<hr \/>\n<p>Penny pusher machines at the arcade and miniature golf also featured on the list, along with not having to worry about airports, luggage allowance or creepy crawlies as you do when you go abroad.<\/p>\n<p>But sadly, the great British seaside tradition of buying sticks of rock didn\u2019t quite make the <strong>top 30 list<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>According to the research, more than eight in 10 adults have been on a British holiday previously, and 29 per cent already have plans for one this year.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Graham Donoghue, CEO of Sykes Holiday Cottages<\/strong>, said: <em>\u201cWhether it\u2019s snuggling up by the fire on a cold day, jumping waves in the sea or tucking into freshly baked donuts, the UK really does have something for everyone.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>\u201cA holiday is a time to rest, do things you enjoy and make memories with your family which, given the last few months, is even more important.\u201d<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_47651\" style=\"width: 950px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-47651\" class=\"size-full wp-image-47651\" src=\"https:\/\/www.sykescottages.co.uk\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/07\/coastal-walks-northern-ireland.jpg\" alt=\"coastal walks northern ireland\" width=\"940\" height=\"290\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-47651\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Coastal walks topped the list of the best things about a UK staycation<\/p><\/div>\n<hr \/>\n<p>The study also found that Brits enjoy UK breaks for the nostalgia factor, the often shorter travel time, being able to speak the language and the opportunity to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sykescottages.co.uk\/pet-friendly-cottages.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">take your dog<\/a> with you.<\/p>\n<p>More than a third reckon they are more likely to opt for a holiday at home this year than they normally would.<\/p>\n<p>Nearly three-fifths are going on a staycation as they just want a break away from home, while a third want to avoid flying due to coronavirus, and a fifth are simply hoping to save a bit of money.<\/p>\n<p>It also emerged that 44 per cent plan to take a trip down memory lane by returning to British destinations they visited as a child.<\/p>\n<p>Top of the list of holiday spots people plan to return to is <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sykescottages.co.uk\/cornwall-holiday-cottages.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Cornwall<\/a>, followed by neighbouring <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sykescottages.co.uk\/devon-holiday-cottages.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Devon <\/a>and scenic <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sykescottages.co.uk\/en\/scotland\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Scotland<\/a>.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_47652\" style=\"width: 950px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-47652\" class=\"size-full wp-image-47652\" src=\"https:\/\/www.sykescottages.co.uk\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/07\/Cornwall-top-uk-destination.jpg\" alt=\"Cornwall top uk destination\" width=\"940\" height=\"290\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-47652\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Cornwall is one of the most popular destinations for a UK holiday<\/p><\/div>\n<hr \/>\n<p>Brits want to revisit these locations to recreate the same memories with their own little ones, and because they know it will be a trip loved by their whole family.<\/p>\n<p>In fact, two-thirds agreed that some of the best holidays they had as a child were with their family on a staycation.<\/p>\n<p>As a result, 63 per cent of parents intend to take their children on a UK trip that they experienced themselves at the same age.<\/p>\n<p>A further four in 10 said it\u2019s the little things that happen on a holiday that make it enjoyable and memorable \u2013 not necessarily plush locations or extravagant beachside resorts.<\/p>\n<p>The research, conducted via OnePoll, also found that more than six in 10 want a holiday to try and find some normality outside of social distancing and the lockdown.<\/p>\n<p>And 57 per cent also reckon they will do more staycations even when the pandemic is over.<\/p>\n<table id=\"christable\">\n<tbody>\n<tr>\n<th><center>The Results: Top 30 things about holidaying in the UK<\/center><\/th>\n<\/tr>\n<tr style=\"height: 24px;\">\n<td><b>1.
