It once was home to sailors, fishermen, and smugglers. Bamburgh is dominated by the imposing Bamburgh Castle, one of the best castles in Northumberland.<\/p><p>This medieval fortress has a turbulent past and was built on the site of an Anglo-Saxon fort. Today it offers panoramic views of the coast and surrounding countryside and is a popular tourist attraction that draws in visitors from all over the region and the rest of the country.<\/p><p>Lindisfarne, however, is a tranquil and historically significant destination located just off the coast near Bamburgh.
