At 500 years old, it's seen its fair share of walkers! The staff were so friendly, and we all enjoyed traditional English pub fare. Begin this 6.9-mile circular walk in the village and be sure to take in all the highlights along the way.<\/p><p>We recommend stopping at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.faeryland.co.uk\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Faeryland<\/a>, a whimsical spot that prides itself on being a haven of relaxation, reflection and enchantment on the shores of Grasmere. We had breakfast at the Freda and Ray caf\u00e9, which was delicious, before walking up the road to Allan Bank, the former home of Wordsworth. <br><br>This house is great for kids, with a huge room full of arts and crafts and even a piano, meaning the adults could spend some time enjoying the varying exhibitions. We tried to spot the red squirrels that live in the adjoining woodland, but sadly no luck!<br><br>\nAfter this, we took a long walk with Bramley through the fields, finding mushrooms, climbing trees and throwing sticks in ravines. We could have easily spent a week doing this; it was so beautiful and the walks we found were really child-friendly. We then headed down to Faeryland Grasmere, where we got our stand-up paddle board out for a lovely paddle around the lake. They also have rowing boats to hire and the most amazing tea room, as well as their own family swans. I would have happily spent the entire afternoon here!<br><br>\nThat evening we were back in Grasmere for dinner at Tweedies, and again it was full of people who had been in a local fell running race, everyone celebrating and re-fuelling after a long day in the mountains. The food is made with this in mind! They have a huge eclectic beer selection, and if you go, be sure to order the halloumi fries\u2014Poppy is still talking about them weeks later!
