Spotlessly clean and warm, with every comfort. It isn’t a posh show home, but we’re not looking for that. The position and views are magnificent. We are sure to visit again.

  • "Beautiful property with stunning views from the house and garden across the estuary."

Everything you could want in a holiday cottage. Comfortable and well equipped with lovely helpful touches. Walks from the door step. Beautiful beaches close by and strolls through the forest to the beach. We had a minor problem with the hot water when we arrived which was sorted promptly with no fuss. Jackie the housekeeper was fantastically helpful. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and look forward to staying again.

  • "Brilliant location, views outstanding, loved the area."

The house was comfortable and welcoming. The weather when we were there was tremendous, so it was tee shirts all day everyday and the outside area came into it's own, plus the local wildlife added another dimension to the property. If your looking to get away from the everyday clutter and chill this house will help you do that. There are area's around the house a little TLC wouldn't come amiss, but nothing that detracts from the location, comfort peace and quiet this house offers.

  • "Absolutely loved Perth Hwfa."

The house is a very homely cottage and because of its age it was in need of a few repairs. Nothing huge and absolutely nothing that affected our holiday. Perth Hwfa was a beautiful house in a phenomenal spot. Just as a matter of feedback- In the listing it says the house is in it’s own 30 acres but in the house details it mentions that these fields are farmed by a nearby farmer so it would be good if it could be made clear whether you can walk in them and if so, is there a preferred area/route. The log burner was toasty and warmed up the lounge beautifully on a cold February day. The view even on a cloudy day is unbelievable . we walked down to the beach and along to the Joiners arms pub and had a drink, crisps and a game of pool. All from the door step. All in all a very relaxing holiday. We could imagine ourselves enjoying the BBQ and the garden (which is much bigger than the pictures seem) a bit more in the summer there. If the gate and fence at the entrance just had a row of chicken wire attached to the back this would help it be a little more secure for dogs. (I made the mistake of letting one of mine off the lead in the garden and he ran off about 1/2 a mile with me chasing a la Benny Hill show! I only did it once!) but it’s a beautiful home in a beautiful spot and we had a much needed relaxing week. Thank you! (Ps: the children LOVED the rope swing!)

We are delighted you enjoyed your stay at Perth Hwfa.  Thank you for raising your helpful comments.  Regarding the land surrounding, the main benefit for our guests is the privacy and peacefulness this provides.  The only rights of access across the land are via public footpaths.  We will update the Visitors Guide to ensure this is clear.  Regarding making the garden more "dog secure", the garden is bounded on various sides by a farm gate, hedges, fences, stone walls and a ha-ha, which have developed over the years.  We don't think it is feasible to make the garden fully "dog-secure" without intrusive fencing, but we will see if we can do something discreet at the entrance as you suggest.    Finally, we have been in touch with you direct about the suggested repairs.  Thanks again for your comments and we hope you are able to come back and use the barbecue! The only thing i would say is we had a two year old with us. And there is a a3ft drop at the end of the garden, and i think anybody with young children which are welcome at the property would feel more relaxed if it was fenced off.

Thank you for your feedback. We are delighted that you were happy with most aspects of your stay at Perth Hwfa. The garden boundary facing Snowdonia is marked by a ha-ha with a modest drop in order to make the most of the great views. We will update the property description so that future guests are aware of this feature before they book. Property Owner

Care and attention given to comfort, information for appliances, and entertainment. We particularly appreciated the smart tv, enabling us to login to Prime and Netflix- useful in the couple of bad-weather days. The log burner and plentiful supply of fuel completed the homely feeling. Amazing views, a plethora of birds ( thanks for the bird food), and overall a visit we hope to repeat soon.

It's a lovely house in an out of the way place, lovely views, it's a pity the only pub in the village is close and at this point in time not likely to open, so it's a drive to the next village not a walk we'd hoped for on a nice evening. All in all a nice place to stay.

We are very sorry to hear that there were broadband problems. The next visitors alerted us to the issue and BT have now sorted the problem. Property Owner

It was very clean and welcoming and the kitchen was really well equipped with utensils, plates, glassware etc. My husband always takes pans and utensils when we go away just in case but this cottage had everything we needed! The garden was great for the boys and our dog and was so pretty with the daffodils, crocus and snowdrops in bloom and the view over the estuary towards Newborough Warren was stunning. We really appreciated the woodpile for the fire and the Parking Pass for Newborough was extremely thoughtful. We loved it. Thank you for a wonderful holiday.

All other destinations are easily accessible. The view from the house is fabulous. The house is ideal for a family. We had in our party, four adults and two small children. The accommodation has that olde world charm about it. The wood burner with a plentiful supply of logs was great for the colder evenings. The garden is a great place to sit or play. One small minus. No passes for Newborough Forest. All in all a fantastic holiday retreat. I will definitely be booking again.

Dear Mr Miller. Thank you for your positive feedback. We were not aware that a car pass for Newborough Forest existed. This has now been rectified and an annual pass is clipped into the Visitors Guide at the house for the use of visitors. Property Owner

  • "We loved this pretty cottage in a peaceful setting."

Absolutely idyllic & restful. Would like to return. House was well equipped and clean with all we needed for a restful break. Only criticism- a welcome pint of milk in the fridge would have been nice but luckily there is a shop in Malltreath so no biggie! It was great for us two adults & two older teenagers but i think parents with little kids might get a bit panicy in garden - there is a 2ft drop at front edge into nettles & brambles. Not a problem for us though.

  • "Very homely but some areas lacked in cleanliness which let down the rest of the property."

Bath is very old and stained, plug in basin slimey, cooker was grubby. Boiler was very smelly and we kept the door to the utility shut in order to minimise the smell. Behind settees and up chimney were full of cobwebs and there were bits of games/paper under the furniture. Loved the homely atmosphere. There were mice droppings around the cooker.

The property

This charming and comfortable stone holiday cottage is tucked away in a wonderful, elevated position.

Its stunning views towards Snowdon and the Llŷn Peninsula have inspired many famous artists, including Charles Tunnicliffe, Kyffin Williams and Philip Snow.

Set within its own 30 acres of land, Perth Hwfa is accessed up a private drive, giving a real sense of privacy.

The land is farmed by a local farmer, so only accessible on the public footpaths.

The village shop, pub and beach are still within walking distance! The super farmhouse kitchen is equipped with a Rayburn cooker, an electric cooker, dishwasher, fridge, and a microwave.

The kitchen table seats six comfortably, and French doors open out onto the garden. There is a separate utility room with a washing machine and tumble dryer. The large sitting room has a wood-burning stove, which is perfect for relaxing around after a walk on the beach.

There is a smart TV with DVD player and a Hi-Fi unit with Bluetooth connection.

In between the main sitting room and hall, there is a room where you can work or use a laptop in relative peace.

Broadband WiFi is available. There is a downstairs bathroom which has a loo, wash hand basin and a walk-in shower.

Upstairs there are three bedrooms, all with glorious views.

There is a large double with its own balcony, a smaller double bedroom and a twin room.

The upstairs bathroom is light and bright and has a loo, wash basin and a bath with hand-held shower. There is a large garden surrounding the house, with well-established trees a swing and a barbecue.

The perimeter is either walled or hedged and at the front, facing Snowdonia, there is a ha-ha, or sunken ditch to avoid interrupting the view, but the garden is not dog proof.

There is plenty of parking for two or three cars, and a log store. Well-behaved dogs are welcome, but downstairs only and not on the furniture please! It is only a five-minute walk from Perth Hwfa to the Malltraeth estuary sands and the cob, which is renowned for birdlife.

Some the best beaches of Anglesey are only ten minutes away by car.

The long stretches of sandy beach and sand dunes at Llandwyn Island are breathtakingly beautiful.

The popular seaside village of Rhosneigr is also fifteen minutes' drive away.

Here you can find shops, cafes and restaurants as well as a great selection of water sports.

About the location

MALLTRAETH

Newborough 2 miles; Rhosneigr 8 miles.

The small village of Malltraeth lies in the south west corner of Anglesey, at the head of the long inlet formed by the Cefni Estuary and close to the popular Newborough Forest and Warren sand dunes. Malltraeth Pool and the magnificent sweep of marshes and sand dunes, which stretch south to Llanddwyn Island, are all part of a National Nature Reserve. The whole area is renowned for its birdlife and Malltraeth was once home to the famous wildlife artist Charles F Tunnicliffe. There are wonderful forest and coastal walks from the village, which has a pub, a cafe serving afternoon tea and a chip shop (also selling basic items/newspapers etc). Close by are beautiful beaches at Llanddwyn (reputedly the 4th best in Britain), Aberffraw, and Cable Bay, or head to Rhosneigr, which is renowned for its all year round watersports facilities.

Note: Well-behaved dogs are welcome at an additional amount of £20 per dog per week (but downstairs only and not on the furniture please!)
