Plenty of seating in the living space and very comfortable. Excellent kitchen - using the induction hob has taught me how to be more efficient when cooking my morning porridge at home! Superb bathroom. Kind and helpful hosts - Jane phoned me in advance to make sure I'd got all the information and James lent me a cyclists map, without which I wouldn't have ventured quite so far on my bike. Beautiful scenery, quiet and peaceful area. We had a wonderful time.

It is perfectly located to explore the surrounding countryside and the coast whilst providing somewhere quiet and relaxing to retreat to. The property was clean and very comfortable. The decor is simple allowing the charm of the refurbishment / conversion from a barn to be the main feature. The information provided by the hosts was excellent and we followed a number of the recommendations and had some great days out. We will definitely be back - couldn't recommend it more highly!

  • "We were lucky enough to have spent a week at The Granary in September and couldn't have asked for a nicer place to stay."

A call from Jane (the owner) to check that all was well a few days prior to our visit was a nice surprise and on arrival, I can honestly say that we were met with the most cleanest, comfortable and organised place we'd ever stayed in. The attention given to cleanliness throughout the barn conversion was first class. All credit to Jane and James, they've created beautiful holiday accommodation in a perfect setting and have thought of absolutely everything you could possibly need for your break. I always take additional bits and pieces with me (a good cutting knife, condiments, dishwasher tablets, ant-bac wipes etc) but I needn't have worried, it was all there to start us off. The welcoming tea/coffee/sugar/biscuits were also a lovely touch. The Courtyard is a pretty place to sit on a sunny day with garden furniture and a BBQ provided for your personal use. The substantial area is shared with 'The Stables' but your privacy is perfectly protected by carefully placed by plants and trees We were there to visit family and friends but there are so many places to see and visit and The Granary is a great base from which to do that. The village shop in Mileham (less than 5 mins drive away) has a good selection of food products to start you off and there are plenty of village pubs round and about that do good meals. The Old Dairy at Manor Farm in Stanfield is also well worth a visit - we had a lovely lunchtime meal there. Jane and James our hosts were really welcoming and not at all intrusive but were there if you needed anything and were happy to answer any questions. They've put together a really useful folder which tells you everything you'll ever need to know about your stay at The Granary. We'd seriously recommend it and wouldn't hesitate to return !! p.s. We were lucky enough to have a quick look at The Cart Shed accommodation while we were there (thanks to another holidaying couple). If there's only 2 of you, it's absolutely lovely !!

  • "Owners very friendly and helpful."

Main problem was with flies. There were so many we couldn’t leave windows or door open. There was a fly swot and I would guess we killed at least 20 every day. This may have been due to location but still not nice. Cleanliness was very good apart from the floor. Our feet were black by the end of the first day so we washed it ourselves. Still had a brilliant holiday but didn’t want to miss the opportunity of giving constructive feedback.

Thank you for your feedback. I can only apologise for the dirty floor - something that has never happened before. Had you raised it at the time, I would have cleaned the floor immediately. Living in the heart of the countryside, we do experience flies at a certain time of year. The week of your stay was extremely hot and coincided with the Harvest in the surrounding fields. Unfortunately, this created the perfect environment for flies. Property Owner

  • "The Granary was spacious and comfortable for the three of us and everything was very new and clean."

I appreciated the additional touches of providing liquid soap, washing up liquid and some tablets for the dishwasher. All things I have had to buy on previous holidays in self catering accommodation. The owners were on site and were there if we needed anything, but didn't intrude. The layout of the three holiday let's ensured each had there privacy. Clever planting obscured visibility of the 2 patios at the rear and the third had a seating area on the other side of the building. I would definitely stay again.

30 min drive to sandy beaches, 40 min drive to the Norfolk broads and other attractions around Norwich. Comfortable beds and general furnishings. Lots of spare cutlery and plates etc so you don't have keep washing up even though there is a dishwasher. The owners live in the house next door and gave us a warm friendly welcome. Pleasant outdoor courtyard shared with another holiday cottage (The stables) but with separate seating area. Our daughter and family were in this cottage so we had a private garden between us. There is a large willow tree and other planting between the two seating areas so you can be separate if you require.

Very clean and recently converted. Well kitted out with new equipment (i.e. Kitchen, Bathroom, Bed linen etc). Great (quiet) location with easy access to the coast and other Norfolk attractions. The host was very friendly and responsive. I wish we could have stayed longer ! We had wet and windy weather, but a stay in better weather would be even better due the patio areas, BBQ, tennis court etc.

  • "We stayed at The Granary for 5 nights in October and we can’t recommend it highly enough!"

The setting and grounds are beautiful and the cottage itself was even better than we expected. From the moment we walked in we could tell how clean everything was - the owners had really gone above and beyond to make sure no area had been missed, it was immaculate! This was really reassuring in the particular climate and it was nice to have no concerns about using anything there. The layout worked great for us, we have two small boys and we had plenty of space but were nicely close to them at night if we needed to get up to them! The cottage has been finished to a high standard so everything felt good quality and there was everything you’d need in the kitchen. The welcome tray was a lovely touch too! The owners live onsite and were really friendly and helpful without being intrusive. The location is great for exploring Norfolk with plenty of places under an hour away. We visited Wells-next-the-sea and Cromer and did some family attractions to keep the boys entertained. We can recommend Roarr Dinosaur Adventure and Banham Zoo. We’ll definitely be coming back for another stay!

  • "This was an all round fantastic experience/ holiday."

The property was everything as described; modern barn conversion, all good quality "mod cons", the 3 conversions felt very "seperate"/ private and it was all immaculately clean and clutter free. The property is very centrally located in Norfolk, with most places no more than a 40 minute drive away, so excellent for touring the county , as we did. Local pubs/ restaurants are clearly being affected by the Covid situation, so booking is important, where possible. A very enjoyable holiday, with the Granary providing "home from home"!! I suppose the only potential negative was sporadic internet connection, but that may also be classed as a positive!! Well done Jane and James: fantastic conversion job and lovely, helpful people. We will definitely be back and would definitely recommend this to anyone looking for a good break.

Thank you for your feedback which we really do appreciate. Regarding the WIFI, a fault was identified and, following a prompt engineer visit, we are delighted to confirm our superfast broadband is running `on all cylinders` once again Property Owner

For a full range of shops, bars, restaurants and other amenities, head to either; Dereham, a market town, home to the ‘Mid-Norfolk Railway’ and easy access to the A47 or; Fakenham, with a regular Thursday market / country auction sale and a National Hunt racecourse. The nearby Gressenhall Museum offers you a fascinating journey through the story of rural Norfolk. A real working farm and the opportunity to step back in time and browse around an old village shop, school and cottage, is a great family experience. Houghton Hall, which regularly holds art exhibitions and cultural events is also close by. Pensthorpe Natural Park is a must-see whilst in the area, boasting a 700-acre reserve and conservation park with interactive trails and eco play areas providing something for both children and adults to enjoy.
