The cottage had everything you need for self catering, the pub next door does really good food and reasonably priced for such big portions. Will definitely book this cottage again we loved it. It has been really thoughtfully and beautifully decorated

  • "Absolutely lovely location, just as described and very friendly staff in the adjacent pub with great food."

2 minor observations. We felt there would have been room for a small table even if it had folding chairs to eat at. So much more comfortable than eating on your lap. The heating & water controls had no instructions and these were not obvious. However we worked them out but the system was quite noisy, possibly air in the system? All in all a truly lovely property, highly recommended and we would hope to stay again if in the area. Lovely touches like the wine and milk were also appreciated thank you.

  • "Super little bolt hole booked for a short break to explore the local countryside."

Everything you could possibly need had been thought of, right down to dog bed/bowls should you need them.Extremely comfy super king bed with decent bed linen and fan for hot weather. Welcome wine and fresh milk on arrival is thoughtful too. Food extremely good and reasonably priced in pub right next door if you don’t fancy cooking. All in all would thoroughly recommend.

  • "Wonderful cottage, extremely comfortable, everything we needed and lots of little extras, thank you so very much for the 'welcome" wine and milk such a great touch."

The bed is huge and so comfortable, crisp white bedding, a really lovely furnished space. The bar & restaurant next door is warm and welcoming, great food & dog friendly, providing treats and water. Although next to the Bar we didn't have any disturbance in the cottage. Would highly recommend.

  • "Only went a bit low when scoring facilities because i assumed the fridge would have a small freezer compartment and was hopeful of a microwave oven."

these things were not mentioned in the description so it was entirely my fault for not researching properly. we had a lovely break, such a beautiful area, plenty of small lanes to discover, A welcome bottle of wine of arrival and Trina very quick to assist with a tv problem, (caused by previous guests) Didn't get chance to sample pub delights as we were there before re-opening date. Delightful quaint little cottage.

  • "I felt that the cottage was lovely but really overpriced."

This would put me off booking again. Also the lighting from the pub disturbed sleep. Perhaps curtains in the bedroom would help?

The location was remote & beautiful, the pub next door was old fashioned & perfect, we ate there three times & each dish was delicious, cannot recommend this place enough

  • "Very cute. Love the mezzanine bedroom, so cosy."

Lovely and clean. Thanks for the milk and wine! Right next to the pub. Could’ve done with more walks on footpaths rather than along the road, but we only did a couple. Appreciated the directions for the walks. Wished we could’ve stayed longer!

About the location

CALLINGTON

Tavistock 9 miles; Launceston 11.5 miles; Plymouth 14.6 miles.

Callington is a Cornish market town, rich in mining heritage and overlooked by Kit Hill, the highest point in the area, donated to the people of Cornwall by Prince Charles to celebrate the birth of Prince William. From the top of Kit Hill there are fabulous views across south-east Cornwall as far as Plymouth Sound. Callington is set in the heart of the Tamar Valley, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, and offers a good selection of shops, inns and cafes, as well as being the home of Ginsters Cornish pasties. A few miles away, the quaint village of Calstock clings to the steep banks of the river Tamar and is dominated by the splendid Calstock Railway Viaduct, a giant 11-arched stone construction supporting one of Britain’s most picturesque branch lines running through the Tamar Valley. Other interesting places along the river are Cotehele, a beautiful historic house and gardens owned by the National Trust with a small quay and inn, and Morwhellam Quay, a theme park that staged a living history production for the BBC and where visitors can explore the rich mining heritage and watch blacksmiths, potters and craftsmen at work. The pannier market town of Tavistock is only nine miles from Callington and is well worth a visit on your way to a day’s walk on Dartmoor. A splendid base to explore south Cornwall and West Devon.
