  • "Sand Fairy Cottage was an 18th century character cottage and was delightful with open fire and plentiful supply of logs."

Mike, the owner, was lovely and welcoming. He responded promptly to any questions. We didnt realise the tele was in the cupboard! It was dog friendly with a stair gate and freshly laundered dog blanket. The generous welcome pack had tea, cake, milk, jam, and bread, all bought from the village shop, which was a co-operative. The shop did not allow dogs to step inside, which was surprising. But it was good for essential supplies. The local pub, The Crown served delicious food, and was very friendly. We did the Bath Skyline walk from the cottage, and we walked along the canal to Bradford upon Avon. Parking is easy on the street, but put your wing mirror in, as sadly we discovered ours was ripped off on the day we were leaving. There is nothing not to like. It was just perfect. Highly recommend. Huge thanks to Mike!

Could have been made a little more cozy with some throws on bed and sofa. Also would benefit from an outside light and brighter lighting inside. We also felt the cottage has too many personal knick knacks around making it difficult to find space for own belongings. Overall the cottage is in a great location for a quiet stay with easy access into Bath.

  • "Hi, the cottage was lovely but could do with a few changes."

We only found couple of cooking utensils in the pot, there were handles there but nothing attached to the ends. It would have been nice to have either a shelf or cupboard that we could have used for our food storage whilst there. For some reason there were 2 dinner services in the cupboards? There were only 2 of us staying and a retriever dog. Tbh I think a big dog is too big for the cottage and it would be a suggestion that small dogs were more suitable for the cottage. And I was a bit worried about breaking any ornaments as there were rather a lot of them! Other then that the bed was wonderfully comfortable, the bedding, towels and dressing gowns were lovely quality, the garden area was nice. The welcome bag was a lovely touch which was very much appreciated. The bathroom was lovely and modern too. Thank you for a lovely week!

Thanks for the feedback Lesley. I’ll check the utensils next time I visit for changeover as your report is the first I’ve had that some have gone missing. I’ll also clear out a cupboard again (which I have done before but things always gravitate back into it). Anyway I’m very happy you enjoyed your stay. Property Owner

The cottage is well equipped, little bits of attention to detail so appreciated. Arrived to a lovely welcome pack supplied by the local village store of bread butter jam cake milk & tea bags, just what we needed after the long drive down. The cottage is beautifully presented. The bed was so comfy & bedding felt lovely. The nice fluffy dressing gowns also appreciated & a nice good size too. We had brought our dog with us & the owner had supplied gates to secure the front garden. Also stair gates at the bottom & top of the staircase to keep the doggy secure. Bathford is a lovely village, the only one shop is a couple minutes walk down the bank. The Crown pub approx 5 minutes down the bank which we went a few times, lovely rear beer garden. Also a nice walk along the canal path to the George Inn. Highly recommend a stay at this cottage.

  • "We had a comfortable and enjoyable stay in a cosy, quaint and quirky little cottage."

We had everything we needed in the cottage, kitchen was fairly well equipped, bed and pillows comfortable. Heating was efficient when needed and underfloor heating in bathroom was appreciated. Lovely to sit out in the front garden when it was warm enough ,in the evening after a long day sightseeing. Is a perfect base for visiting Bath and the Cotswolds, other parts of Somerset, we managed to get to everywhere we planned to easy enough. The village of Bathford was lovely to explore on early morning walks with the dog, the village shop have nice gifts and we tried the coffee in the cafe. We also had two pleasant evenings in The Crown Pub which was a five minute walk down the hill. Also enjoyed an evening meal at the King's Arms pub in a neighbouring village five minutes drive away. We appreciated the welcome pack on arrival and found the cottage to be spotlessly clean on arrival, also had a welcoming email from the host prior to travelling and good communication on stay when needed. All in all a thoroughly brilliant stay and perfect break, we really enjoyed it at Sand Fairy Cottage

  • "The cottage was warm and cosy."

There were plenty of logs but as we have a log burner we took our own logs. The kitchen was well equipped. The bedroom was spacious with good wardrobe space, lovely fluffy dressing gowns. There was no plug for the bath which was a shame as we walked a great deal and would have liked to relax in a bath. The stairs are steep and slippery and the bathroom warm with heated floor, but downstairs so a visit in the night quite hazardous. Weather was terrible so plenty of towels for dogs necessary. Fantastic welcome bag which we really enjoyed. All in all a great 3 night stay.

Thanks Carol glad you had a good time albeit a bit wet. Yes the downstairs bathroom is a little quirky these days but the Historic Building Listing places restrictions on layout. Sorry the Bath plug had gone missing (probably went out with the towels) it has now been replaced so thanks for letting me know. I’ll also give more thought to the stairs, I’ve already added hand rails and will look into anti-slip stair edges on top of the carpet if this is feasible. Thanks again. Mike Property Owner
