  • "Mary Ann Villa was the ideal place to stay."

Had plenty of rooms and beds for everyone. It was very walkable to everything in Inverness. The scenery there is just gorgeous and the people are so friendly. If I had to say one thing about it that needed to be addressed, would be that instructions to operate the washer/dryer combo. We could not figure that thing out at all :) If you are going to Scotland, I would suggest staying in Inverness. You can easily get to Edinburgh via a 3.5 hour train ride.

  • "Very disappointed that the owner refused to allow us a change of date given the adverse weather conditions."

The road north was closed to due to flooding and landslides plus we were advised not to travel. As the owner wouldn’t allow a change of date we did stay but only for 2 nights despite paying for 4 nights. Also my son and wife were unable to travel at all due to the severe floods. So all in all a very disappointing weekend. The house was ok but if we’d been our full party there weren’t enough seats either round dinner table (6) or in the sitting room (5). We understand the difficulties if folk cancel but we couldn’t claim on insurance as the events were considered to be acts of god. I think the owner was very greedy and their comment that the weather was ok in Inverness showed a complete disregard for what was going on in the rest of the country!

  • "The property was even better than we expected."

We had four bedrooms and three full baths and very generous living spaces. The kitchen facilities seemed very new. You could not beat the location. It was so close to the shopping, many restaurants and coffee shops, and a grocery. Would definitely recommend it.

  • "Great stay."

Mary Ann Villa is in a super location, close to the city centre and within easy walking distance from the Ness Isles, lots of bars and restaurants as well as shops. The house was bigger than we anticipated, two beds on the top floor with two bathrooms and then two on the ground floor with a toilet/shower off the main living room. Everything was clean and well maintained. Would definitely recommend.

  • "Excellent home with comfortable beds and full kitchen."

Very quiet little court and parking spot in front. The front door keys were a little tricky with an old fashioned key but ok. Overall excellent accommodations and we were a family group of 6. Thank you! Teresa

  • "Great location in Inverness by the Cathedral, quiet and no road noise."

Off street parking a real bonus and the provision of a permit for street parking a thoughtful touch by the owner. Very spacious house, good quality bathrooms, nicely furnished (don't let the pink kitchen put you off!) very well equipped. Would definitely recommend and hope to stay again.

  • "Few things about this cottage - 1."

The door lock doesn’t work. Somehow we managed. 2. Parking spot is there but getting your car to this location is trouble if you mini van or above. We had to be super careful before we could pull in our car every time. 3. There are 2 bedrooms downstairs and only 1 toilet no bathroom on first floor. All the bathrooms were on 2nd floor. Otherwise 1. Cottage is spacious. 2. Kitchen, Bedrooms and living room is spacious. 3. Location is nice. 4. Good for 8 - 9 people.

About the location

INVERNESS

North Kessock 5.9 miles; Dores 9.2 miles; Tomatin 15.5 miles.

The Capital of the Highlands, the city of Inverness, is the gateway to the countless delights of the Highlands of Scotland. Towering mountains, dark lochs, great forests and precipitous sea cliffs are all within easy reach. Of particular note is the legendary Loch Ness, which is surrounded by some truly breathtaking scenery, although most visitors are usually on the lookout for something a bit more mysterious! Just outside the city is the Culloden Battlefield at Culloden Moor (National Trust). The site of the last major battle fought on British soil, there is an award-winning display depicting the battle, whilst a walk on the field serves as a poignant reminder of the clansmen who lost their lives. Inverness itself has much to offer, museums, an art gallery, fine theatre and leisure facilities, not to mention shops, pubs and restaurants. The River Ness flows through the city and both the river and neighbouring Moray Firth are home to a diverse range of wildlife and marine life including red kites, along with dolphins, which can sometimes be seen from the shore, or on trips from the harbour.
