  • "A lovely cottage in wonderful scenery."

We would hope to stay again in the new year, The only comments to make about the facilities would be concerning the parking which was not easy as the road is so narrow for passing traffic. Also worth mentioning is to warn those with a difficulty using stairs as this property has many in varying depths. This is especially a problem when entering the kitchen. Otherwise it was perfect.

  • "The cottage is clean and very comfortable."

There is an adequate amount of crockery and cutlery for the number of guests and everything is of good quality. The bedrooms are spacious with a lot of storage space. The mattress in the en-suite is medium/soft and the ones in the other room are firm. Sitting in the garden is a nice experience. It is small but well maintained and there is room to keep bicycles. There was no disturbance from neighbours. There are beams in the living room and bedrooms which are challenging for people over 6’. The tv works well for terrestrial channels but there is buffering when streaming, especially at weekends. The car parking is quite irritating at times but probably not a problem outside of school holidays. The cottage is well located for exploring the area with traffic free footpaths leading to Robin Hood’s bay and Boggle Hole, however they are very steep. A cycle path runs from Whitby to Scarborough through the village and there is a play park in the village in the field behind the Methodist church. It is not signposted so easy to miss.

Unfortunately plates had been put back in the cupboard unclean. I did text the owner to make them aware. A bit disappointed that there was no radio available to use in the kitchen. It would also have been good if a small bottle of milk and a few tea bags would have been left. After a long drive from Kent a cop of tea is always welcome.

  • "A lovely cottage with everything you'd need."

We were a group of 4 adults and there was plenty of space for relaxing, eating, cooking and sleeping and good to have 2 bathrooms (one is an ensuite). Great to have an open fire with fuel available in the local shop. Good location with shop and pub very close and only about three quarters of a mile walk to Robin Hood's Bay. Parking is on the street outside the cottage and it was a bit tricky finding a place when we first arrived but I was able to move the car to a spot outside the cottage on our second day. We would certainly return to this cottage if we visit the area again in the future.

As well as the house itself, there is a well-stocked shop about 50m away, a pub which serves good food, and bus stops to take you to Scarborough and Whitby. Robin Hood Bay is about a 15 minute walk away, too. We didn't find parking outside the property at all difficult, but we were there during term time. All in all we had a great time and highly recommend Lyndale Cottage.

Cottage had all mod cons though the cooker took some working. But thanks to information sheets left by owners , i soon mastered. Would we book again ? Yes we would.

  • "This was one of the best, if not THE best self-catering accommodation I have ever stayed in."

From walking in on a cold January afternoon to be greeted by a cosy warmth throughout the cottage, I loved everything about the place. It had all the traditional features and charm of a rustic cottage, coupled with the most up-to-date and efficient equipment. And everything was spotless when I arrived. I hope I left it in a similar state at the end of my 5-night stay. Incidentally, with some previous reviews in mind, there was never any problem about parking my car directly outside the house. Mind you, it was January...

The cottage was warm and had much more character then we'd expected. Everything was finished to a high standard and crockery, towels etc. were of good quality. My only misgiving would be listing it as sleeping five people. For two of us it was wonderful, but had we been a party of five, the kitchen may have proved difficult. That said, we couldn't fault it. Thank you for having us!

The owners have thought of everything for your home from home stay. A few minutes walk from Robin Hood’s Bay and excellent bus services to Whitby, Scarborough and surrounding areas. We used the car only once during our week so a true break from the hum drum of busy life. Stayed 9 to 16 October and the weather was perfect, sunny and breezy, great for getting about. Although it is surrounded by other properties close by, we didn't have any problem with noise and the small garden was nice for sitting out - and hanging out the washing. Not a place we are likely to return to since we like more space around us but we had a really nice time without using the car once we had arrived. Mostly local walks from the cottage but we did get the bus to Whitby one day.

Scarborough was a nice drive down the coast. Parking on the road was sometimes not happening, but a place was found in the next street so there were no issues there. Thorpe Stores at the end of the road keeps a wide range of essentials and serves hot breakfast rolls. Round the corner is Barnards Bakery and Butchers, the owner is a nice chap who will make animal shaped bread for children (or adults i suppose!) to order. We particularly liked the "crocodile baguette" they are open later on Friday and Saturday for fresh cooked pizza, which i can also recommend. For children there is an excellent park just at the end of the road near the church which is an excellent place to spend a happy hour of your time in the early evening sun. highly recommended for families wanting to stay on the Yorkshire coast.

The cottage was comfortable, cosy and homely. My only adverse comment is that the front bedroom window left one exposed to view from the houses opposite and could have done with net curtains. The lovely village store within a few seconds walk was an unexpected bonus. The cottage is well placed for trips up and down the coast, and we used the excellent half-hourly X93 bus service from just round the corner to Whitby and back on a couple of occasions, thus avoiding parking problems in Whitby. It is a wonderful area, and I would recommend this cottage to anyone wanting to get to know it or coming back to it.

It is in a really nice location, about 20 minutes walk to the bottom of Bay down a lovely path across the fields and through the woods. We walked down to the beach in the morning and then one of us went back to get the car to pick up the kids at the top of the bank which worked well. There is a handy village shop a few doors down, as well as a playground and a good pub less than a minute away. The walks up from the property to Raw and around the bay are really great too. And of course RHB itself is one of the most beautiful locations in the country with lots to do along the coast and just inland at Goatland and May Beck.
