More emphasis should be put on the lounge area being upstairs. Garden area too small to sit in, no table or chairs. Kitchen well equipped but a lot of the mugs were chipped. Traffic heavier and noisier than stated. Overall we had a great week but more due to the weather than the property

  • "Haworth Barn is a lovely, quirky property, full of character and charm, well maintained, comfortable, very clean and spacious."

Although there is masses of space in the living areas it is perhaps more suited to 6 people than 8 as there are only 3 bedrooms and one of these is quite small. I would like to suggest to the owner that a grab rail by the kitchen door would be helpful as the step down into the kitchen is quite steep if mobility is an issue, also that brighter lighting in the dark downstairs bedrooms would be helpful.

Would not have gone if the map had put the house on main Horton road: non stop quarry lorries from 6am. I know area well and was hoping the map on your site was correct....some refund? House is fun and enjoyable. Large curtain in dining room was completely off rails so no privacy there or wind exclusion. Very good sitting room. Small garden without a 'lawn', just a small piece of grass. Kitchen well-equipped; table very rickety. Starter wood should last weekend if possible. Bed duvets very old and thin; bottom sheet in our room too small for duvet. Enjoyed the snug and dining room. Great walking but we knew that; the main road dominates the holiday.....sleeping,relaxing with noise and worrying about dogs. Westies could get under main gate so put stoneware up and bought chicken wire. We would not return. But thank you for the use of your house.

Extremely spacious, clean, well-equipped and a real home from home. We would have stayed there for ever if we could! We were a bit sceptical about trying the local pub, which is a 5 minute walk from the cottage, based on an earlier review but the food was excellent and the landlord was friendly in a no nonsense way :). Unfortunately they don't allow dogs in the pub as one of the staff had previously been bitten by a dog but they are allowed outside. There are so many wonderful dog walks from the cottage and the church is well worth a visit. It is really beautiful. I could go on and on about the wonderful places to visit. We so loved our stay and would highly recommend Haworth Barn and North Yorkshire.

Local pub just up the road does lovely food. Don't let the main road the barn is on put you off, the noise isn't noticed at all. The barn itself, lovely and spacious, well presented. I feel the kitchen was missed on our stay. Kitchen is well stocked with crockery, utensils etc....too well stocked, no cupboard space to store food and finding other visitors food and spices left, was a surprise, I didn't feel this was appropriate, especially as certain things were removed from the property inline with covid guidance. The cleaning supplies for the kitchen was appreciated, however the crumbs in the cutlery drawer were not. The high ceilings are a beautiful feature and I appreciate how dusting will pose a problem but the dust on the beams, dining room light and along the dining room pelmet was thick. This again was a shock as the check out time was brought forward to 9am to allow cleaners extra time during the pandemic. The utility room was a blessing for dirty boots following a hike. WiFi was good but non existent if in the kitchen or main upstairs bedroom. Garden is virtually non existent as per photos on advert for the property, but this didn't not bother us as a family. I would book this accommodation again, and only mention the cleaning issues so the owners can Improve the stunning property. Communication is excellent and the key collection in the safe box is great.

My wife enjoys shopping in Booths and it is near enough to Skipton for fish and chips any Bizzie Lizzie's restaurant. Obviously the cost would be added to the rent. Also a coal scuttle was provided with a small covering of coal on the bottom? Was it meant to be full? Although the cottage info did say that logs would be provided for the first night only, we therefore brought our own supply, also coal, which just means more to carry in the car. It offered warmth and comfort making it ideal for a winter break - with plenty room for storage of wet weather gear. The two storey central feature dining room was a plus as was the two bathrooms and bedroom mix that offered a fine degree of separation at bedtime when occupied by a group. In terms of recommendations perhaps- 1 Some comfortable seating in the dining area would help families to have slightly different space at certain times of the day. 2 Vehicular access and egress is a little tight - particularly for large cars. I would add however that neither of these items spoiled our enjoyment.

The property

This stone-built, detached barn conversion is set in its own grounds, near the beautiful river on the outskirts of the peaceful village of Stainforth, three miles from Settle.

An unusual and quite spectacular layout, the main sitting room sits high amongst the ceiling beams on a first floor mezzanine overlooking the ground floor.

Accessed by two staircases the room is spacious, extending across most of the first floor and features a central chimney stack containing a woodburner.

Full of character, the cottage combines lovely soft furnishings, a picture window overlooking the Dales countryside, stone walls and a magnificent cathedral ceiling to ensure that this is a perfect place to relax.

The bathroom with Jacuzzi bath and the king-size double bedroom, both boasting lovely views, are also contained on the first floor.

The ground floor has a further two bedrooms served by a shower room, a small kitchen/diner, spacious dining room, summer room, utility and internal access to the garage.

The ground floor snug contains a sofa bed and access to the first floor via an original staircase from Haworth Church, which gave the cottage its name.

This is a fantastic location for family and friends to stay with a lovely local pub a short walk away.

The river and access to many footpaths, including the Pennine Way are very close by and a short drive will enable the more adventurous in the group to attempt the famous and gruelling Three Peaks challenge, a test of stamina and determination.

For a more relaxing day out, there are many sightseeing activities in the area; visit the Hoffman Kiln at Langcliffe, the famous Ribblehead Viaduct and the market towns of Settle and Skipton.

A great location for a holiday in the Yorkshire Dales National Park that will live long in the memory.

About the location

STAINFORTH

Settle 2.5 miles; Giggleswick 2.5 miles.

Stainforth is a charming village with a thriving community life in the heart of the Yorkshire Dales National Park. Stone-built traditional cottages, narrow lanes, the village church and the quaint old pub all go together to make this one of the prettiest villages in the shire of Ribblesdale. Nearby are the famous Stainforth Foss and the medieval Packhorse Bridge, beloved by Sir Edward Elgar. The village is about three miles from Settle, a bustling market town with excellent shopping facilities, a good selection of restaurants and a thriving market day, when the square is filled with stalls offering a wide range of goods. The Settle-Carlisle Railway, the most scenic in England features the occasional steam train, and the run across the Ribblehead viaduct with its twenty-four arches is an experience not to be missed. An excellent area for walkers with the Three Peaks nearby, and a good base for touring the Dales, while the Lake District can be reached in less than an hour.
