  • "The house was not cleaned on our arrival, no bedding changed or clean towels provided."

The owner lied and said that Sykes had not informed them of the booking. The whole house needs a complete deep clean. Broken patio door, broken dirty water filled dishwasher, broken garden furniture, bins full to the brim, broken bathroom tiles and bath panel, filth, grime and dirt everywhere, I could go on. The owners refused to refund us and lied that they had addressed our issues during our stay when they didn't. Please avoid if you are looking for a pleasant, clean and well maintained property.

  • "This is a lovely, family sized, dog friendly cottage."

It is my home from home and I love going there for some R&R. There are lovely views from the front and back, up and downstairs. There are lots of excellent walks all around, both in the countryside and along the coast. Whatever the weather there is lots to do. The cottage is warm and cosy when it needs to be. Over time I am noticing that there are a few things that need the owner's attention and most of these have been picked up by other customers. I would always suggest that owners stay in their properties for a week and see what it is really like to live there and what could be added or changed to improve things.

  • "The house is in an ideal location for a quiet relaxing holiday with a great secure garden for a dog."

After reading previous reviews we were anticipating that the cleaning and issue with the en suite door had been addressed. However, they had not. The cleaning in particular was a big disappointment. The oven trays were covered in thick grease / fat and had to be thoroughly washed before use. The waste bin in the lounge hadn’t been emptied, containing cigarette butts and other items. There was no anticipated welcome pack apart from a small bottle of milk, a few teabags, small amount of lumpy sugar and the coffee container just had dried grey remains of powder. Photos in ad showed a basket containing a bottle of ‘bubble’ ! There was no starter pack for the fire either. The outdoor general waste bin was full although the recyclable containers were empty. A pity there wasn’t a supply of bin bags or at least a reminder to people to bring their own. The owner really does need to sort out these issues because the frequency of the adverse comments will eventually discourage people from booking this property and that is a shame for such a well located, comfortable property.

Comfortable and cosy with everything you need including a large garden for the kids and fantastic views of North Wales in all directions. The owner was very helpful with a couple of minor issues we had with the facilities and was there almost immediately to sort them out..thanks again. The only thing I would say is ensure your vehicle is in good condition to tackle the winding uphill roads to get to the cottage from the village. I had to use first gear in some places but I like a challenge and the views of the coast are definitely worth it. There’s something for everyone. Enjoy!

We had issues with no hot water and a faulty toaster however owner was very prompt in rectifying the situation. My only issue was that the property could have done with a thorough clean. The windows and kitchen floor were dirty and the crockery and glasses hadn’t been washed properly which resulted in us having to run them through the dishwasher before use. Upstairs would have benefitted from some waste bins in the bedrooms.

Tap in bathroom broken , was reported in December 21 with rusty bath panel not very inviting so didn’t bother using the bath . Bed sheets stained again not very inviting. Had to step over rodent Poo to get in the front door not great. Cobweb’s in bathroom . Downstairs toilet tap broken . Bulbs not working in kitchen. No access to a light at the back very frustrating. Batteries flat in tv remote . The place is in need of some T L C This feed back is to help the owners if they want people to rent out their property in the future, also it’s not great that when feed back is given it’s obvious it hasn’t been addressed. There was a small note in the property stating games had been taken away due to covid. We booked on the understanding the games room was available, no note on booking at all so I feel this is false advertising and we were miss led, we would not have booked the property if a games room was not available as we had two children with us and a games room is handy in bad weather. We had to go purchase some toys as we had not taken any with us. Please alter your description of the property, surely this type of description is classed as false.

  • "We pointed out to the owner on arrival that the property stunk throughout of curry, obviously it had not been aired correctly and took days before the smell lifted."

We bought candles, air fresheners etc to alleviate the smell which was most unpleasant reaching the bedrooms and impregnating all our clothes and the bedding. The plastic tablecloth in the kitchen still had rice remains on it, it was also torn and very scruffy. The chairs in the kitchen badly stained. Tap in bathroom has operation handle missing. The en suite tap was lose which is a known health hazard for bacteria. The shower was not useable as the door would not shut properly causing water to spread over en-suite floor. Most noticeable was the radiators in the master bedroom, en suite and bunk room hardly working. In fact the heating would only come on for a short time then turn off with no apparent thermostat. It was really cold and we had to rely on the woodburner, fuel of which we provided most of. The owner did explain that someone had smashed the glass and he had only just repaired it and not replaced the fuel for it. The garden was wonderful for the dog, however, we had to secure the front gate with some tape as it continually blew open this needs a simple loop latch to secure. All these things need addressing to make the house truly comfortable as it is in a lovely position. There should also be a note on your site that the pub does not accept dogs even outside.

Reg absolutely loved the enclosed garden and it gave us complete peace of mind when letting him out. There are walks out of the front door and the beaches nearby were perfect for us. Our dog can be reactive so it’s important for us to be somewhere out of the way so he can be relaxed etc. The local boozer was decent enough food at a very good price and the beer was good also. We will 100% be booking to go back to this property. We didn’t need to contact the owners throughout our stay but I’m sure if we had to they would of been brilliant. They left us a nice welcome card. Peace and tranquilty! The cottage is beautifully presented and well equipped. It is approached via an unadopted road which didn't bother us at all, adding to the charm and secluded nature of the property. The garden and house are very dog friendly and our dogs really enjoyed running around in the garden, which is more like a small field! The beds are very comfy which is something we don't often find in holiday cottages. The village, more of a hamlet, is very quiet and about 4 miles from Prestatyn. Prestatyn was a pleasant surprise too. Everything you need in terms of shopping. Lovely little independent stores as well as the usual well known names. There is a cinema too. We're vegan and discovered the Torello Lounge on the High Street with a great vegan selection as well as being dog friendly. Unfortunately, the local pub The Eagle and Child doesn't allow dogs in the building, only outside and had a dirth of vegan options. We thoroughly enjoyed our week and have booked again for next year. We do a lot of doggy friendly cottage holidays and this is certainly one of the best we've experienced.

There is a large retail park with lots of shops including a Tesco supermarket who will deliver to the house. There is a Spar Shop in Dyserth where there is also a waterfall which is worth a visit.
