  • "Sitting at the edge of the village of Shrewton in Wiltshire, this barn conversion is a really lovely cottage in a peaceful, cottage garden setting."

Its close to services, but feels like its in the heart of rural England. Its also brilliantly placed to see attractions like Stonehenge (a few minutes away) and Salisbury, with its beautiful medieval city centre and magnificent cathedral. Hosts Brian and Christian were warm and friendly, helpful with suggestions for places to eat or see, and very accommodating when we needed some help accessing facilities. We loved this barn and if we weren't already booked ahead we would be staying on longer. Quick tip: try The Boot Inn for a meal - brilliant!

  • "Drovers Barn is a lovely cottage very well situated if you want to visit Wiltshire and the south of England."

We had a fantastic time, the house was very comfortable and fully equipped. We specially enjoyed the basket of food that we received as a welcome present. The hand made bread was delicious! We would love to go back.

Tastefully decorated it is both cosy and large. It is fully equipped with anything one may need, from the freezer to the dishwasher and the kitchen utensils fit for a chef. Thanks to the owners who made sure we were comfortable during our stay.

  • "Thanks for a lovely place for our week's holiday in Wiltshire - we'd happily live here it's so good!"

The welcome was great and the hamper of food and wine a nice surprise to start us off! We're a family of 6 with 4 young children and this property suited us down to the ground! The Everhot Aga made the kitchen living space cosy and was great for cooking whilst other utilities like a dishwasher, microwave, washing machine and dryer were all appreciated - and there was SKY TV if we needed it :-). The bathroom was well-thought out with a deep free standing roll top bath and separate shower and bedrooms were just right for our kids- we really liked the sleeping space you could get to by climbing up the "apple ladder"- great idea! There's also plenty of safe space outside on the grassy lawn that the kids enjoyed playing football, rounders, badminton and cricket on - and we liked the bridges across the winterbourne river to see the spotted pigs! All in all a great place, friendly owners - we'd go again!

About the location

SALISBURY

Andover 17 miles; Southampton 23 miles

The medieval city of Salisbury is the jewel in Wiltshire's crown, dominated by the majestic 13th century Gothic cathedral. The cathedral offers 750 years of history including Britain's tallest spire, the world's best preserved original Magna Carta, and Europe's oldest working clock. The surrounding cathedral close, full of architectural gems, is bordered by the River Avon and ancient Chilmark stone walls. The city offers historic streets with charming half-timbered buildings, traditional pubs, characterful shops and a twice-weekly market. Or, stroll along the Town Path and take in the awe-inspiring views across the water meadows towards the cathedral. After dark, there's a thriving arts scene, including one of the country's leading repertory theatres, a lively arts centre, cinema and a wealth of independent restaurants. Should you want to explore further afield then a short drive from Salisbury takes you to Stonehenge, the National Trust's Stourhead House and gardens, majestic Wilton House, as well as the New Forest National Park, and the Hampshire and Dorset coasts. There's so much to see and do in Salisbury and surrounding area that your only concern will be finding the time to do it all!
